I actually think the Mayans are on to something. like, may be they knew we would blow ourselves up or destroy the world by 2012.
i also think that its unlikely everything would end on a predicted date, but who's too say it cant be close.

It's not going to happen unless there's some sort of natural disaster that takes place, which is so unlikely that one so undereducated such as myself could make the assumption that it would take billions of years.

A lot of people and so called scientist are claiming that whatever wiped out the Maya, possibly will wipe us out too. Didn't the Maya say that the world would end like 10 years ago or something? They were wrong about that. Anyways if there isn't a Doomsday there will be another Great Depression in the US. The DW dropped 300 points yesterday. That was what happened right before the original one.

I kinda like the idea that they just decided to stop righting down dates for a bit, calendars are supposed to stop at a point.

You mean the end of the Meyen calender on December 31st 2012? People think it's the end of the world but it's just the restart of thier calender. We don't even have many records left on the Meyens (thanks to the Spanish). So we shouldn't jump to conclusions that big when we don't even fully understand them or thier culture.
