i just got the orange box

so, i bought katamrai damacy the other day, tried it, and returned it and put that money towards getting the orange box for PS3, which is only 40 dollars. best 40 dollars ever spent. i'm so addicted to portal it's unreal, half-life 2 has damn fine graphics, and TF2 looks fun, i just need to fix my intarwebz.

so... lowest amount of money spent for a good game? anyone?

My lowest amount of money spent for a good game was also Orange Box.

I also got Assassin's Creed for free (buy 2 get 1 free deal at GameStop).

Team Fortress 2, being an online shooter, can be a bit overwhelming at first as far as difficulty, but not nearly as much as others due to the fact that it's team-based. It'll still take a bit before you start winning one-on-one firefights. The game is hella-fun, the only online shooter I play 'cause others feel like a step down.

One thing I'd suggest for you:
You're on NewGrounds, so I assume you've played Portal: The Flash Version. If not, DO SO NOW. Afterwards, and after beating Portal, the people that made Portal Flash Version actually converted their 40 levels to 3d (and made a few new ones) and put it together like a whole new Portal singleplayer campaign! It's really awesome, and you can download it for free here.

Congrats on Orange Box. I'm a GameStop employee and if anyone ever asks for a good game on 360, PS3, or PC and is even remotely interested in shooters, it's the first thing I point out.

The day it came out, I went in to get it and the Best Buy employees, instead of using the barcode on the game, were instructed to use a barcode printed on a sheet located at each register to ring it up. I was also purchasing a CD and a DVD, and there was a huge line behind me. I just happened to hand the girl at the register all three items in a stack upside-down, she scanned them very quickly and didn't notice that one didn't register in the computer. I payed my $25 total and didn't say a word as I walked out the door.

Long story short, 10 bucks for a copy of Blade Runner, 15 for a Luther Vandross CD, and one free $50 video game on the day of its release.

yeah, it's just I'm kind of hesitant, being that my computer isn't that great and i just got my ps3 and have a new 26" LCD HDTV to play it on. unless you have a godly beastmachine of a computer, you'll be hard-pressed to compare the visual quality between PC version and HD blu-ray on a widescreen HDTV.
