Well Halo looks like it has potential, but the portrayal of MC concerns me. Games like GoW and Splinter Cell have storylines and concepts viable for a movie, but pac-man????? And likewise to what Black-Flame said. The sims? WTF???

If they're animated (by a good team) I have no beef against them. But if it's live action, very rarely will it turn out good. The only part of the Doom movie that was actually good was the FPS-style camera work near the end.

DOOM was a horrible movie. The Rock is such a bad actor, and most of the stuff in that movie barely made sense. It wasn't even scary, it had no feel of the game at all.

A Metal Gear Solid movie would just be Metal Gear Solid Lite. In order to make the run time close to the average 2 hours, the creators would have to massively cut down on the cutscenes and "talking bits" in order to preserve the series' action. The plot would really suffer.

The only way I can see Metal Gear Solid working as a movie is if it was turned into a television movie in several parts. For example, Terry Pratchett's books can be turned into two-part, three-hour-long TV movies with minimal reductions, so it's the MGS series' best hope for moviedom.

Myst

Myst would be a bit problematic. The player is never seen or named in order to improve the illusion that you are the player, but the main character is definitely Atrus. The movie would have to follow Atrus' point of view, and it would be unable to follow the game's plot because 1. in the first Myst game, Atrus is stuck in a book up until the end, and 2. you do all the work, all the puzzle solving, and all the etc. in every Myst game. A Myst movie would probably work only if it followed the books, which star Atrus as the central character and chronicle his adventures in different Ages.

A biopic about the Atari

That actually looks interesting.

Pacman

What the fuck? This is going to be worse than the Super Mario Bros. movie.

And last and probably least; Uwe Boll is shitting out movie adaptations on Far Cry, Alone in the Dark 2 and Bloodrayne 3

How could they make a Pac-man Movie? All it would be about is a yellow dude popping pills, running around with a creepy smile on his face and getting chased by everything thats trying to do whatever they do when they catch him. Wait, aren't most movies about that?

That Prince of Persia game is almost like playing a movie, the game progresses quickly enough...

Also Metal Gear and Splintter Cell need one.

Yeah, those are all projects that are claimed to be in development, but the only ones that are actually in any sort of production (instead of just film rights and half-finished scripts sitting there) are Prince of Persia, Street Fighter, and the Atari biopic. A few actually seem like alright movies, though. PoP has very high production values and a strong cast, plus it's being produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, so even if it's not good, it'll at least be somewhat entertaining in the shallow sense. And the Atari movie is actually somewhat of a prestige film, I think.

Also, you're forgetting that John fucking Woo has the film rights to Metroid.

I'm not sure that that's the problem. The problem is that they're picking fucking retarded (not to mention entirely plotless) franchises to work with, and they're putting no effort into making the films because they think that gamers are idiots. However, I think that's starting to change, though, as people who grew up with gaming in the '80s are moving up the creative and executive ladders at the studios.

In the film industry, money can't solve creative issues (though plenty of game-movies are admittedly laughably low-budget). What the studios need to do is employ actual talent to work on these films and carefully pick games that actually have stories to work with. Luckily, the Prince of Persia movie seems to be following all of these criteria.
