So i was looking for an icon for my NG stuff and i looked up some shadow the hedgehog stuff
And i found a very depressing and rude thing
A Shadow the hedgehog Haters club :(
I'm like WTF?! What do you have against one of the best characters in the series/ video game world
(sonic and knuckles are the otherones in my opinion for the series)

FUCK YOU Shadow is just another filler Sonic character. He's ok, but he's NOT one of the best characters ever, let alone the Sonic franchise.
Sonic started it all. His games were good. Shadow is for mainstream emo dolts who have no appreciation for what's really good.

Gota say Shadow isn't the best person there. Like stated before Sonic started it and still is the best. If all we had was Sonic, Tails, and at least Knuckles going up against Eggman and Metal Sonic. It would still be a good series.

This should go in the video game forum. But as long as I'm here, I might as well take a crack at the question.

I think the main reason Shadow is so disliked is because of his similarities to Sonic. He's not actually related to Sonic in any way, and yet he has all of Sonic's abilities. Ultimately, the only intent the designers must have had when creating him was to have a Sonic that was darker and had a backstory. But that really means that Shadow was made just to be a knock-off of Sonic. And Sonic fans dislike the idea of having a knock-oof character within Sonic's own canon.

I personally believe that a more well-received decision would have been to simply give Sonic his own backstory. It would've saved the trouble of creating a new character, and Sonic would be less two-dimensional (figuratively speaking) than he is now.

Actually, when you think about it, it's pretty ridiculous. Sonic is the main character, and yet he is among the characters that have not had any character development at any point in the series. He's mostly a plot device to prevent all hell from breaking loose. I wonder if Sonic Team has ever actually realized this?

Shadow should learn his place and be just an anti-hero, not some emo, dark, scornful, hating, angsty and midly stupid protagonist.

Look at some good example like Bass form the Megaman series.

He only does two things, and he does them at his best:

-Blow stuff up
-Kill Megaman

With awesome one-liners like "I'll Kill You" or"Die" or"I'm the strongest", not some petty whining about "Who I'm I" or "Maria"
