The only spirits I wouldn't consider mixing are ones with specific years attached to them and are upwards of $150. I bring out the premium stuff whenever I'm mixing. I use Don Julio for my margaritas, Woodford Reserve for Manhattans, and Grey Goose whenever my parents like their french royal martinis. I save the cheap stuff to mix with coke.

Sleep. Although in the case of January 1st, I had to catch a couple buses home in the morning. I threw up before I left, and my stomach didn't like being on the bus either.

Bah, I found that to be a nasty bit of brew. A friend of mine let me try it, as I thought it were like NesTea or something. When I tasted it I had a desire to punch this guy in the face, haha!
Went to that party and drank up many a beer (not sure how many, since people were just handing them to me, but more than 5), two orange crushes (except with grapefruit instead of orange, which I find much more crisp and delicious) and several cups of Bacardi 151 and Coke (half and half, equal portions). You might think that would get me trashed, but no I was pretty coherent and was ready to keep going when my brother got us kicked out. Yeahhh, he was shitfaced.

Haven't been drinking all that much lately. Living with a family friend and he's not a big drinker, a Big Rock Traditional in the evening and only one.
Applied for a bartending position today at a place called Craft Beer Market. They have over 120 beers on tap, definitely a place for the people who are coming to the NG Calgary meet. Might only be a BA for a few months, but at least it's a step in the right direction.
One thing that I found delicious is a combination of Corona and Tomato Juice with a couple wedges of lime in a salt rimmed glass. Been a big fan of Tomato Juice the last few weeks, no idea why.

this was an unusual take on the mint julep, using a house mint soaked bourbon. it was pleasant and milder than a julep usually is. i was not a fan of that glass though, my vision of a julep is in a taller glass and with fizzy soda water

Pretty much just soaked bourbon in mint. I actually dont like muddled mint, they inevitably get stuck in your teeth and youd never know it all night.
Mint works well in cocktails i find. Well within reason...
Your drinks always look so classy, Luis. Things like that always look amazing but the taste just isn't something I can enjoy for the most part. Not commenting on that drink in specific, but stronger alcoholic drinks in general. I think I'll always be more of a beer guy.
Although having said that, I've not been drunk since the Melrose 7's (local, popular rugby tournament) which was on the 14th of April. I've probably not had anything to drink since then or been to see any bands.

Well, one of those two friends held his word. I asked the other friend yesterday if he'd go ahead and do it, but he came up with the excuse that he had to go out right away, even though the liquor store is down the street. And today, he said he didn't have the cash. I'm still holding him to his word cuz he drinks my shit all the time. Anyway, one of my friends got me a bottle of Bacardi superior, which is gone already.
Tried some vodka from Poland last night. One of them tasted a bit like Amaretto, which was good. Another one tasted like Jaegar, but less shitty. Another tasted like wine and syrup, it was disgusting.
I don't know the names nor do I know what brand they were, since the bottles were all in Polish and I was too busy being tipsy to guess what anything other than "Wodka" meant.

Well it's rodeo here and it was pretty busy. The bar I use to work at usually puts up a tent in the parking lot for rodeo every year which doubles the capacity to about 400-500 people. Not this year though, I was told it hasn't made them enough money in the last couple years. Disappointed but it was a good time regardless. Me and some other cousins went out for my other cousin's stagette. She had a new cowgirl hat made from Budweiser and Canadian beer cases with that white veil stuff on the back. She had condoms taped to her shirt and we sold them for donations to Relay for Life.
Good times had by all.

I love gin. The only two I've really enjoyed are Bombay and Tanqueray though. Usually I mix it with Tonic and limes, or make Gimlets.

Delayed response but the Amaretto taste was because it was an almond flavored vodka. I don't know what they used but it certainly didn't taste like the shitty sugary bullshit that they sell here as flavored vodka (Pinnacle comes to mind). As for the jaegar flavor, I have no idea. Couldn't read Polish.
I'm officially back as a bartender at my old job and happy as a clam.
I've been doing a little research on some party shots I can make with a limited amount of booze. We don't have a full bar but we do have enough to improvise.

Now we don't have Goldschlager so I'd probably substitute Fireball, a Canadian Rye Cinnamon Whisky, and call it a Canadian Pirate or something.

Anywhere from $20-$80 depending on my party mood. A round of 5 shots can run anywhere from $15-$25 depending on the bartender. A regular beer or hi-ball costs $4.75.
