I tried to watch the new Patton Oswalt special last night, but got too drunk and fell asleep. I can't even remember any of the jokes. It's a good thing I didn't delete it from the DVR.

"i'll have a bloody mary" is pretty much like saying "i hold the world record for being a closet homosexual"
eh? I've never in my life heard of a bloody mary being a bitch drink. I thought lots of men have them with their steak.

tbf the vodka was fine but the night itself was terrible, ex girlfriend was present and caused a scene which was fun

What do you guys typically do to cure a hangover?
Sleep. Although in the case of January 1st, I had to catch a couple buses home in the morning. I threw up before I left, and my stomach didn't like being on the bus either.

Personally I'd love one of these babies and a big patio overlooking the ocean in Florida, but I'll settle for the Margaritaville blender.
My father-in-law has a margaritaville ice shaver thing. Works amazingly. I don't like margaritas, but I love shaved ice.
My aunt invited me and my brother to get shit faced this weekend. I wonder what awaits me...

Currently having myself a Twisted Tea, pretty good stuff. Thinking of mixing it with some rum and lemonade for a lethal concoction.
Bah, I found that to be a nasty bit of brew. A friend of mine let me try it, as I thought it were like NesTea or something. When I tasted it I had a desire to punch this guy in the face, haha!
Went to that party and drank up many a beer (not sure how many, since people were just handing them to me, but more than 5), two orange crushes (except with grapefruit instead of orange, which I find much more crisp and delicious) and several cups of Bacardi 151 and Coke (half and half, equal portions). You might think that would get me trashed, but no I was pretty coherent and was ready to keep going when my brother got us kicked out. Yeahhh, he was shitfaced.
My birthday is on Friday, so that night my friend and I are hitting up the bars in the town South of here. I never was one for bars, but he insisted he'd buy me drinks, so why not?
Apparently yesterday was National Mint Julep day, as a bourbon fan im sad that I missed out, so I'm gonna go get a mint julep today. I'll try and photo it so it can be added to the cocktail porn in this thread.
Haven't been drinking all that much lately. Living with a family friend and he's not a big drinker, a Big Rock Traditional in the evening and only one.
Applied for a bartending position today at a place called Craft Beer Market. They have over 120 beers on tap, definitely a place for the people who are coming to the NG Calgary meet. Might only be a BA for a few months, but at least it's a step in the right direction.
One thing that I found delicious is a combination of Corona and Tomato Juice with a couple wedges of lime in a salt rimmed glass. Been a big fan of Tomato Juice the last few weeks, no idea why.

this was an unusual take on the mint julep, using a house mint soaked bourbon. it was pleasant and milder than a julep usually is. i was not a fan of that glass though, my vision of a julep is in a taller glass and with fizzy soda water

Pretty much just soaked bourbon in mint. I actually dont like muddled mint, they inevitably get stuck in your teeth and youd never know it all night.
Mint works well in cocktails i find. Well within reason...
Your drinks always look so classy, Luis. Things like that always look amazing but the taste just isn't something I can enjoy for the most part. Not commenting on that drink in specific, but stronger alcoholic drinks in general. I think I'll always be more of a beer guy.
Although having said that, I've not been drunk since the Melrose 7's (local, popular rugby tournament) which was on the 14th of April. I've probably not had anything to drink since then or been to see any bands.

I usually just drink liquor straight. I might chase it afterwards with seltzer or Gatorade, though.

Have you ever had creme de menthe? It's pretty good. I also prefer spearmint gum over peppermint, though.
Well, one of those two friends held his word. I asked the other friend yesterday if he'd go ahead and do it, but he came up with the excuse that he had to go out right away, even though the liquor store is down the street. And today, he said he didn't have the cash. I'm still holding him to his word cuz he drinks my shit all the time. Anyway, one of my friends got me a bottle of Bacardi superior, which is gone already.
Tried some vodka from Poland last night. One of them tasted a bit like Amaretto, which was good. Another one tasted like Jaegar, but less shitty. Another tasted like wine and syrup, it was disgusting.
I don't know the names nor do I know what brand they were, since the bottles were all in Polish and I was too busy being tipsy to guess what anything other than "Wodka" meant.

Jaeger is the nectar of the Gods!
... Also, how the fuck do you... Why would anyone make vodka taste like Amaretto or Jaeger?
Well it's rodeo here and it was pretty busy. The bar I use to work at usually puts up a tent in the parking lot for rodeo every year which doubles the capacity to about 400-500 people. Not this year though, I was told it hasn't made them enough money in the last couple years. Disappointed but it was a good time regardless. Me and some other cousins went out for my other cousin's stagette. She had a new cowgirl hat made from Budweiser and Canadian beer cases with that white veil stuff on the back. She had condoms taped to her shirt and we sold them for donations to Relay for Life.
Good times had by all.

I love gin. The only two I've really enjoyed are Bombay and Tanqueray though. Usually I mix it with Tonic and limes, or make Gimlets.
In other news, I have a feeling this club may become obsolete soon with the other clubs. At least we were the original drunks.

Delayed response but the Amaretto taste was because it was an almond flavored vodka. I don't know what they used but it certainly didn't taste like the shitty sugary bullshit that they sell here as flavored vodka (Pinnacle comes to mind). As for the jaegar flavor, I have no idea. Couldn't read Polish.
I'm officially back as a bartender at my old job and happy as a clam.
I've been doing a little research on some party shots I can make with a limited amount of booze. We don't have a full bar but we do have enough to improvise.
1 part Captain Morgan's Spiced Rum
1 part Goldschlager
Now we don't have Goldschlager so I'd probably substitute Fireball, a Canadian Rye Cinnamon Whisky, and call it a Canadian Pirate or something.
What are some of the party shots you order?
At 6/19/12 08:30 PM, DannyIsOnFire wrote: Long time no post, but out of interest, what do your bar tabs usually run to fellas?
Anywhere from $20-$80 depending on my party mood. A round of 5 shots can run anywhere from $15-$25 depending on the bartender. A regular beer or hi-ball costs $4.75.
A normal night out is probably 5-6 pints and 2-3 gin and tonics.
£3.50*5 + £4.50*2
£25-£35 approx. Maybe a little more variance to account for round discrepancies and such.
I really have no idea how much my drink costs on a night out because it's not often I'm the one actually paying. These days the only time I go to the pub is when there's a band on and that usually means my Dad will be there too, so he pays for most of the night.
I drink Guinness, which around here costs £2.70 - £3.50 per pint depending on the pub. I usually have about 6-10 pints of that depending on what time we get out. Usually I'm there from about 8 til closing time (12-1am) and then I'll hit the club if my mates are out. Don't usually drink much in the club though. Again, depending on how long I'm there I'll usually have between 1-3 shots of Jagermeister because by that point I've already had a few and I'm paying for my own drinks at this point. Think that's about £2.50 for a tiny shot although even when I ask for it straight rather than as a Jagerbomb they give me the can of energy drink separate.
You're probably looking at £30-40 in total. If I'm paying for my drinks it's a different story though. I'll either drink slower or drink something cheaper. Carlsberg is usually £2 a pint and if I have 7 of them, that's only £14. Not as nice as Guinness, but I can live with it.
