I believe that no matter what you should have to have a lock on your gun. And if their are children in your house at any time you should have to have that gun in a very difficult and a specific place(i.e. a safe) specified in the law. And this locked place should be hidden somewhere very difficult to find, and not visible to the eye. That is where I stand on gun control. I also would like better locks on the guns. And my ideas for laws would be for rifles and hand guns and guns of all sorts.
Its annoying that the laws that are right arent passed because of what certain groups of people might think. Damn politicians.....

I believe that everyone should have a gun, in their house, in their car, even on them! Heck, let's all move to Montana and make this a reality!

That sounds like someone on one of the radio stations in vice city would say. Is it?

Ghandi said, when asked how he felt about western civilization: "It would be nice if they had it."

Where do I stand on gun control? It would be nice if there was some.

I agree with anti here. Guns, if you have to have them, should be locked, hidden, et al.

Of course, guns are a coward's weapon. Swords, now swords take real skill. But, as long as it's locked and hidden, there's nothing wrong with having a gun for self defense.

Just a question: If your gun is locked and hidden, what good is it to you in an emergency?

Yeah and Ghandi II said otherwise, with an automatic rifle. That was great. Anywho, firearms shouldn't go to idiots, only responsible and knowledgeable people. Gangs are morons and ruin the real purpose of firearms and makes us pro gun people look bad. I can't wait for deer season, November 15th!!!! WOOOOOOOOOO!

I support the right to bear arms of law-abiding american citizens. I believe that the level of armament a civilian may own, however, is not allowed to exceed that of elite law enforcement.

All people in the UK should be allowed, by law, to shoot any passing motorist that flips them off, throws shit at them, or does that irritating "Uhhhhhhhhhhrrrrrr" noise out the window at them.

Well, I need an excuse. And a shotgun...

Watch Runnaway Jury and you won't care how you feel about guns, you'll just wish you had one, so that you could either kill your self, or the projectionist at the theatre, or one of the actors in the movie, or better yet, the script writer!

The problem with gun control is that it assumes the government has the right to control the ability of a citizen to protect themselves. This goes inherently against the ideals of freedom for the populace and minimalist government that founded the US. The government should be a stop-gap measure, not our whole basis for existance. How can we be self sufficient when the government is our only source of protection?

If people slept with a gun under their pillow for emergency use to defend themselves, what happens when the wife gets outta bed at 2am to piss and you shoot her thinking its a burgler?

I say that people should be allowed a rifle or shotgun ONLY if they have a reason to use it i.e. for hunting.

Guns should be kept locked and unloaded, preferably in an attic or basement until they are due to be used.

NOBODY should have a handgun. Nobody at all. I also think nobody shuld be carrying a gun in public. I support a mandatory 5-10 year prison sentance for anyone carrying one in public.

My buddy who is serving in Iraq right now said he had to pistol whip some ass wipe because he wouldn't let anyone search him. It turns out that ass clown was carrying a concealed 9mm. What a difference, my buddy could have been killed if he didn't find that on him. He's an M-1 Abrams crew member.

On one hand, it would be a great idea to eliminate guns, because Americans obvously can't control themselves.

On the other hand, that would be a horrible idea, because the criminals wouldn't turn in their guns.

Frankly, i think this is unsolvable, as Americans are simply too screwed up.

An emergency like little joey fell down the stairs or the oven mitts caught fire?

Oh, you mean an emergency like if someone pulled another gun on you. That's the whole point of gun control. To prevent teh psychos from having guns.

No offense is ment towards your buddy or anybody serving overseas by this. Why is it people can get away with this overseas, but if your buddy did that on American soil it would be all over the media, and the guy would sue the Army for thousands of dollars. Why is it so much more tolerble when it happens to someone non-American?

If guns made Americans safe then it would be an eutopia.

But that is not the case.

I love it how your arguments are ALWAYS based of some grand theory you have that all people are kind and generous.
I will say this one more time, as I have said it in many gun control threads.
We all know that if guns are banned, they will just MAGICALLY disappear, there will NEVER EVER be a black market for them and criminals will NEVER EVER EVER get their hands on them!
We also all know that a ban on guns would MAGICALLY STOP MURDER! Yes, guns are the only thing people can acually use for KILLING, sans knives, swords, large rocks and the like...
Also, we ALL know that gunsmiths would MAGICALLY forget their trade and NO ONE WOULD EVER MAKE THEIR OWN FIREARMS! Oh noz! Why, If guns were banned, The world would live forever in peace!

I found a link that compares the number of handgun deaths several well developed countries:

http://www.handgunfree.org/HFAMain/research/abroad/

I think it all comes down to the fact that the US needs more gun control. I have a friend immigrated to the US from Canada and says that Canada only has a slightly stricter gun control policy but has much fewer firearm deaths than the US.

I was watching the House of Representatives on CNN and when one of the lobbiest of the NRA was up to speak about the new gun laws (fining gun dealers that sell to mentally challenged and ppl with criminal record) She said that would mean that her sons couldnt sell to blacks.

I this is kinda off in a tangent, but if these are the kind of ppl that are defending guns then I want no part in it

He may be wrong about the fact that it wouldnt stop crime on the streets. But, dont forget the ammount of people who die a year in handgun accidents,"among the entire U.S. population and among children. In 2000, there were 776 firearm accident deaths, including 86 among children.", (thats the all time low too!)
http://www.nraila.org/FactSheets.asp?FormMode=Detail&ID=120
and if you give me some shit saying handguns arent the only thing that kill people, then i will become very frustrated. IF they are as nearly as bad as the handgun accident problem, i believe they should be taken care of too.
