America = Canada

Culturally America and Canada are very similar. Yes although many Canadians would not like to admit it America's culture is almost the same as ours. For instance Canada is like the moon, although the earth (america) has more gravitational force we still manage to have a massive effect on the tides and weather.

Now few people would like to admit this, common shows coveted in Canada like friends are American programs. We have famous Canadian actors like William Shatner who brought famous shows like star treck into the world view. Canadian politics does not affect American politics greatly, but the Americans shape our politics more intimately.

For instance the offshore oil is looking to be claimed by Russia, china etc. The Americans have simply said that it belongs to know one and can be claimed by the people who get it first. This is fair enough, even though our conservative government has laid claim to something which is not necessarily in our borders. Hydro power is supplied to the Americans from Quebec and a good portion of America's oil is supplied from Canada.

Conversely America offers support etc. America is the strong arm behind Canada, as they are able to exert enough force to get our demands done. They are the military force that protects us from invasion etc. The account for almost all of our trade and profits; for example the housing crisis and the recession in the states have caused everything to buckle and have been felt in Canada. The economy is only being driven by Albertans oil, for instance in the 90's Canada almost went bankrupt and would surely do so without help of the Americans.

In short our cultures are intertwined, Americans are no different then Canadians, they have a higher literacy rate and passing for them is 65 percent while in Canada it is only a mere 50. In short my Canadian brethren we have been too quick to judge Americans. Some of the best schools are in America, and more then half of scientific innovation has come from America alone in the past 50 years. Americans are not any more stupid then Canadians, however their fast food culture has made their obesity rates just higher then our own. However I think you would be hard pressed to not find a McDonald's or a burger king in any city in Canada.

I agree Canada is the same as the US, with the exception being they have socialized health care, cheaper medicine, politicians that progressively help their nation, less harsh pot laws, French as an equal language, politer people, a very low gun violence/murder rate, racial tolerance, awesome french fries and cursing on TV.

If you don't take into consideration all that cool shit, then yes the two countries are practically one in the same.

First of all socialized healthcare does not account for all of Canada's progressive healthcare. My mom almost died because it took her 12 hours to get treated in our social system. The problem is all the doctors get attracted to America where they earn real money etc. A private clinic will treat you right away while a socialized one will have long waiting times. I just read recently in a paper where a woman had a painful miscarriage in front of people in a waiting room because they had no place to put her and no one would treat her. This never happens in America, and health insurance is easily affordable. Canada has a 70 percent public health service and the states have a 45 so this is a misconception.

If you have health insurance which can be afforded by anybody who makes a fair living. Even the lower class can afford it, people who are uninsured are mostly people who are homeless etc. And they still have to treat you if it is life threatening.

Not true, pot laws are just as tough in Canada now that the decriminalization bills have been thrown out; before they were not charging people because it might have been decriminalized now you will get the same treatment if you get caught that you would in a northern state.

The nicer people thing can be argued, how ignorant are you? The French hate us and Quebec almost separated from us with the referendum in 1995! That means just over 50 percent of the population voted to stay with Canada. That is hardly what I call good feelings with the French Quebecers.

Murder rate and gun violence can be attributed to our small population. America has cities that have a larger population then all of Canada combined. The more people there is the more violence there is. Don't you remember that recent school shooting in Toronto not more then a year ago?
