Then don't reply. This is a reminder. If you haven't embraced this concept, reread the rules and don't post until you have. I'll be handing out longer and longer bans for this offense, especially if I see repeated offenses.

When I started coming here tldr was applied to posts of length longer than 6 paragraphs or a screen. In recent weeks, I've seen it applied to to text as short as three paragraphs long. This is unnaceptable.

Posting that you don't care, stopped reading, tldr, etc is not a valid post. If you are not posting on topic, you are spamming, and if you are spamming you will be banned. This is your only warning from me. If you get banned, I won't unban you for not reading this topic as its been part of the rules for years now.

Not reading a topic and posting such is a bannable offense and always has been.

30 day ban to the person who posts tldr, etc in this topic.

It gets me a lil upset just reading a post like this, or posting a response to just the title of the damn thread.

30 day ban to the person who posts tldr, etc in this topic.

I can only imagine how many alts are going to take you up on this.

yeah right.

I don't think a total of 1000 posts doesn't take as many as memory space as a new crappy submission.

I don't think they're worried about server space, dude. It's the quality of conversation that they want to improve around here.

I'm tempted. Although I do agree it's stupid when someone spends about ten to fifteen mintues writing a long post/story/etc only to have it spat on with "TL;DR" and other lazy idiots.

tldr :P

No just kidding, actually i'm kinda glad that this will now (propably) be more looked down upon.
I myself am often quite annoyed to find someone use their time to actually make a good, but long post, just to read it through and then find, that people found it more important to tell the OP that they weren't reading his story/post rather that reading it and participate in the discussion.

Not long; did read.

I know, it's a problem in most forums where users care more about their post count and e-cock rather than actually making relevant posts. No offense gum, but this probably won't make much of a difference considering the maturity level of most NG users is at an all time low. The more harsh bans threat was a good idea though.

You know why it is? Everyone wants to get a piece of the cake and obtain a +1 in their post count. People want to be the first and the omnipresent in every thread they see, and when they find themselves before a topic that demands interpretation and thoughtfulness, they opt for a quick way to get their +1 anyways.

It happens every time. You make a thread about a place you went? ''That's cool''. You write something long? ''No one cares'' or ''TD;DR''. It must end.

BTW, I am going to write you a PM now about a proposition. It is somehow related.

Oh, this is only a small ripple in a gigantic typhoon that will dissapear with the traces of time. The only people who will agree with me are those who agreed with me to begin with or were on the fence. I know all this, but its still a deterent for a small time. And I don't believe post count matters to all that many users after they get close to 1000.

Anyhow the message here is also that users should do their best to contribute to a topic when they post. Its easy to make a short one liner and move on, but its more meaningful and healthier for the community if you take time to reply. I'll be banning for the offenders of this rule, but it takes a certain measure of effort on each individuals part to actually raise the quality of the bbs (and I'm talking about funny too). Moderation won't ever improve the quality, just stem the acceptance of defects.

I know from experience. It's not way fun to post a hentai thread when no mods are active. It is however a lot more fun and more funnier to get about two or three other people together and try to disgust people using hentai while derailing a topic.

By the time the BBS is full to the brim of quality posts, one average monkey will have written the entire works of Shakespeare and the contents of the Bible, with each quality post by itself being the equivalent of a correct letter written by the monkey.

Just a warning, stop discussing fun ways to break rules. Encouraging the acceptance of rule breaking isn't cool, especially since it makes my job harder. >:(

I think you are absolutely right.
Although I must admit that I'm sometimes tempted to post a one-liner myself, it isn't good for the community.

If i try to start a serious topic about the oil-crisis thing, and I give people arguments and pro's / con's... they tell me to shut up. They will not read it, because it's to much text, or they even say that I copy/ pasted it from someone else? What do they think? That everybody has his head in his a** nowadays?

Although i dont come to the bbs as often as i did do back in the day, it still does not really bother me when people post stupid comments because they couldn't be bothered to read the thread. I just ignore these people and read the posts that contribute to the thread.

However, i do see how annoying it can be when a fair few people are doing it in one topic. So like you said, dont be too hasty with the ban hammer!

Of course, and every user should have that kind of filtering system when they read a topic, but it doesn't make what the other users are doing any better. Keep up what you are doing, but I'll still be deleting and banning for such responses.

However, i do see how annoying it can be when a fair few people are doing it in one topic. So like you said, dont be too hasty with the ban hammer!

Oh, I won't be hasty about it, but if there will be bans for that kind of posting.

What I've gathers so far, is anyone posting TL:RD gets a ban.
You also mentioned people that post off topic, is this people who are legitimately trying to derail a thread, or people who make jokes in a thread also?

Although I never say "tl;dr" this is a good reminder. If your just posting for your post count, actually contribute something. Saying tl;dr just makes you look ignorant, lazy, or both.
