I was watching Super Mario Hyadain and right before Luigi steps in there's a frame where he's wearing that one dopey grin - you know the one I mean. I've seen it the most as a simple inserted forum smiley (see piccy I made) but I wonder if that's the original? What exactly is up with this grin? How am I supposed to refer to it?

There isn't any kind of significance to the smiley? Everyone always used it and it became associated with scrubs or something?

It's not even a meme. It's just a cloying and pitiable attempt to mesh with the in-crowd by using code images that say nothing and mean even less.
