Can you guess? It's practice with faces. I'm trying to get more realistic, better drawings, but keep coming out empty. This one has eye problems for starters.

So to address the eye problem, I made this...I somehow feel I didn't fix the problem.

in the first picture, the top left one's eyes actually look fine. The one on the right is wack though. The eyes look very flat. The second one is also very good.

The lower corner one's eyes look that way because I TRIED to fix them, when I really didn't know why they looked wrong to me to begin with (I think I made them too big) But instead of retrying I just said "fuck it" and moved on...

I made this one to work proportionally with the eyes in ratio to the head (which is what I thought was wrong to begin with) this one looks sizeably correct to me, a little unrefined, but this one is in progress...

Facial practice.

I gave a try on working on it for a few minutes. For starters, usually where the brow meets the eyelid usually creates a line. I rotated the eye clock-wise a bit and brought it closer to the bridge of the nose. Probably too close. Not perfect, but a tad better. I also added a small boogie to the original nose, sorry, couldn't resist. I'm an ass like that.

I'm practicing as we speak. Gathered some of my more forgotten resources about art, and focused on the eyes, I feel I have a good enough grasp of them now, that I am moving on to placement and size on the head.

you're just lacking a true understanding of the form. try drawing the whole eyeball first & then draping lids over it, you will get a better sense of the form
you have the same issue with the lips also, the mouth curves on the face & the upper lip overlaps the lower one

look at photos if you wanna practice these things
with practice you'll get there eventually

Congratulations! You just destroyed someone else's hard work! This Flash has been blammed.

Hmm...Great suggestions...I'M OFF TO MAKE LIPS AND EYES!(yay) Btw, I'm adding more to this post cause I don't feel like deleting some of the old poster's post, but I can still post...get it?

Hey, sorry it took so long, but I was distracted by a comercial about the possibilities of being a culinary chef. I had to research it. Bad idea, back to art, anywho. A few things came up, how far out does the eye come from the face for the skin to overlap? Links to better stuff would be great.

I recognize that picture... Your eye practice from ConceptArt? ;D

They're all very nice, I'm rather taken aback by the unusually good quality work.

Great job!

that's a matter of personal genetics, some people have eyes sunken in, others have them very protruding...take asians for example, generally they have the eyes more into the sockets of the skull thus a heavy crease doesn't form. you have to take into account the shape of the eyeball itself also, it's not a perfect sphere, the cornea forms a hump of sorts...this kind of information would involve studying races & their facial features

a very good book on drawing faces in general is Burne Hogarth's "drawing the human head"
you can usually find the book for free on e-libraries since it's been out of publication for some time

the title of this thread is very misleading.
