I'm strongly considering transferring to a University in Australia, I go to school here in the US.
Any tips on certain areas/schools I should look at?

Is this something to do with Aussie taking over the fattest country position?

Stay away from South Australia. The people there are weird.

Queenslanders are also slightly odd.

Tasmanians have two heads.

Stay away from the aboriginals, i'm not saying all but some of them can be quite violent, most of the ones in the city are civilized, if your coming to Australia then stay to the east side.

Yes that's true

Queenslanders are also slightly odd.

They're completed fuckiheads in other words

Tasmanians have two heads.

Compare them with your southerners sorta.

Its good to hear aomeone is coming from the US to study here. We don't get many of them.

I wonder why?

BTW you should read up on some Aussie slang cuz you might get lost with some words.

I go to the University of Melbourne, it's pretty good.

The two best Universities in Australia are the UoM (Melbourne) and the UoS (Sydney). Of course when I say best the view may be slightly biased and various Unis perform better in different areas but overall this is the general consensus.

Actually ANU is widely regarded to be the best uni in Australia followed by Melbourne then Sydney.

Not that the University itself is bad or anything; they have a fucking Subway right in the middle of it. Nah, it's just that Newcastle is a shithole. You'd be hard-pressed to have a good time here.

That, and the women here are dog-ugly.

Don't study at RMIT either. The only thing its got going for it is that its right in the middle of the city and it's really easy to get to. But apart from that it's a terrible uni with almost nothing in the way of facilities. It also has a non existent social scene.

My best mate and I both went to RMIT straight of school. I dropped out after 6 months, he dropped out after 12.

It's a nice enough place, I just don't like the general public here.

Well, besides being one of the best Universities to learn medicine from, its also 5 minutes away from my house. Which caters for both my needs for accomodation and education.

Win/Win situation for me.

I'm confused. How can you be so familiar with the University of Newcastle yet live 5 minutes from RMIT? Also, I'm fairly certain that you can't do medicine at RMIT and even if you can it would still be behind Melbourne, Monash and Deakin.

I live in Newcastle. Isn't RMIT in Melbourne?

OK that makes a lot more sense now but if you look at this post it seems as if you're talking about RMIT and not the University of Newcastle as you made no mention of it.

Shows how much I pay attention to these sorts of things. Though being an engineer we don't really care about the comparisons.

I had a quick look though, your claim seems to be correct in the overall sense and Melbourne is apparently the best in regards to Engineering which is weird because there are so many lecturers and tutors that should not be allowed to teach. I had a maths tutor who pronounced eigenvectors as ancient vexstors.
