They are, but it wasn't all that unnecessary. Japan struck out, U.S. tried retaliated.
Both countries suffered losses..victims that had nothing to do with the war. It's the leaders. Blame the government >:D

This doesn't negatively reflect on the US military.

Maybe not, but in perspective, people will frown upon us.

It was the actions of individuals.

Yeah, the American individuals. Not the Brittish, not the Jappanese, not the fucking Australians.

However, according to your logic, I can safely say that all British people brutally, and fiendishly beat and bludgeon children. Therefore the UK... or rather.. all of EUROPE is filled with child beating psychos and Europeans should be saying "I hate the continent I live in".

You lost the point. If you don't want to believe me, I am not going to force it on you.

lulz I just get made when people are so ignorant. The average American isn't mean, but so many people who think that usually go up to Americans they know and say "oh hai, u from american? y u bomb my country?" And we're like... fuck you.

We all just explained why it wasn't unnecessary, sometimes I think this guy is just a troll. Never actually making any kind of sensible argument but just constantly replying to keep the argument going.

See, I have to disagree with that. We've already proven that an invasion of Japan would have killed millions, and that the nukes only killed 200 thousand people. So I wonder, what else should we have done if the nukes were not necessary? The sad truth is, even after one nuke your country did not surrender. So it is very clear that the nukes WERE necessary, as your country refused to surrender after the first one.

Heres my fucking drunk ass theory on the subject. If you own a computer than you probably live in America. 50% of the world is America. The UK is nothing but a big fucking American state like North Dakota, or Canada. Europe=USA, Western Hemisphere=America,

all your bases belong to us.

You know what, none of use are going to win this argument, becuase politics is just like the game, you never win. The only way you win is by not dicussing it/remembering it, but as soon as somebody else mentions it everything turns into a flame war. People are brainwashed into thinking that their side of the argument is right, and the other is wrong, but in reality neither will ever be right in any aspect, because neither side can shut the fuck up and see the other side.

thus why I never go to the politics board.

Everyone breaks the rules, buddy. I know I do. And it's because the incidents like these that give America it's name to other countries.

No, what gives America its bad reputation to other countries is that since the US is a superpower, people have an added incentive to exaggerate the wrong doing of the US. People are LOOKING for something to point their finger at the US for, they'll take anything they can get their hands

- British soldiers beat Iraqi children. Is there gigantic international uproar over it? Nope, the most you're going to hear is "shame on those dudes" basically. Has anyone seriously condemned the entire UK military or UK population based on that event that is arguably worse than Abu Ghraib? Nope. Not at all.

- American soldiers beat Iraqi detainees and humiliate them with comical sexual torture... Everyone in the world, including British people, condemn the US and say that this single instance constitutes "proof" that the US military and the United States as a whole is evil and wrong.

It's not only a double standard, but it's intentionally ignorant, self-delusion. The moment America is in the equation, people cease thinking objectively and logically and begin to make whatever thinking error they need in order to accommodate their preexisting, anti-US bias.

This doesn't negatively reflect on the US military.
lol.

It doesn't.

The codes of conduct in the US Army, as well as the training manual for treating detainees specifically forbids soldiers from doing what the soldiers at Abu Ghraib did. The soldiers who were involved BROKE those rules, they were Court Marshalled, dishonorably discharged, and PUT IN PRISON.

If you decided to break the law right now and you assaulted someone, would that negatively reflect on your community? Would it negatively reflect on your state, or the US? No... it would negatively reflect on you because your behavior went AGAINST the rules.

This doesn't negatively reflect on the US.
Maybe not, but in perspective, people will frown upon us.

And people will "frown upon us" no matter what we do. In fact, if we do nothing that could possibly be frowned upon, people will make shit up and blame the US for it to "frown upon us" anyway. People WANT the US to do wrong, they want to hate the US, because it makes them feel better about the fact that the US is the world's superpower and their country isn't.

Simple human behavior, people will always have an irrational bias against the person they are envious of.

It was the actions of individuals.
Yeah, the American individuals. Not the Brittish, not the Jappanese, not the fucking Australians.

Apply that logic to anything else.

According to you, Canada can be blamed for a Canadian rapist, France can be blamed for an French murderer etc... that means that all countries in the world, according to your logic, are intrinsically horrible, because all countries have rapists and murderers.

Nobody else would ever, ever blame a country based on the actions of a few of its individuals. People will only do it to the US, because they have a mind-bending, fervent and fiendish desire to attack the US.

However, according to your logic, I can safely say that all British people brutally, and fiendishly beat and bludgeon children. Therefore the UK... or rather.. all of EUROPE is filled with child beating psychos and Europeans should be saying "I hate the continent I live in".
You lost the point.

Your point is nonexistent.

If you don't want to believe me, I am not going to force it on you.

Believe what?

I never denied that Abu Ghraib took place. What I did was show that blaming the US as a whole for it is stupid.
