So an entire country of 305 million people can be condemned based on the actions of 3 individuals, who were going AGAINST orders and AGAINST the codes of conduct of the US military demanded of them? They broke the rules and fucked with a few prisoners.

The US used 2 nukes on a defiant Japan who would have caused the death of its entire population had the US not used those nukes, which killed only about 200,000 people, not "millions".

The US already destroyed the Japanese military basically. But If the US didn't use nukes to make it clear to the Japanese government that it was going to lose, the US would have had to invade the mainland against a Japanese guerrilla insurgency that would have ended up kill way, way more Japanese civilians than both Hiroshima and Nagasaki combined.
