They WANT to believe in a conspiracy, so they're easily drawn in by flashy "evidence" and think that the conspiracy is verified through rushed and misunderstood science.

Because most conspiracy theorists lack competence in the scientific fields being dealt with, they're not in a position to be properly critical. This makes them more likely to believe faulty scientific arguments that others dismiss.

Millions of people saw 9/11 happen on TV live. The news stations were reporting it as an accident when the second plane hit. Tens of thousands saw it in person.

For 9/11 to have been a "false flag" operation, hundreds of thousands of people would've had to be in on it. Innocent people would've had to agree to give their lives and lie to make the story work. It's simply not plausible.

I would wager that most people here refuting Loose Change haven't read up on nearly enough information addressing both the arguments to have enough of an opinion. But because it isn't POPULAR opinion, many people just can't fathom how it could be false. And admit it, the media has, at least in a minor way, steered you guys a certain way in your lifetime, to train you to sometimes ignore facts that can seem fishy or that you don't believe could happen.

In the section on "mythological dieties like Jesus" there are over 70 factual errors. The section is maybe 5 minutes long. That's an insane amount of errors for such a short section.
So, the real question is, if their entire section on religion is provably false...why would anyone care what they say about 9/11?

The government misleads, manipulates at times, its people. THAT, I'm sure we can all agree is true. That is part of their nature. I'm not 100% on whether it was planned or whether it wasn't, but there is a camp of mainstream physicists, scientists and engineers who refute it, and a camp of those who don't and believe the concensus in the 9/11 truth movement statements.

Just be informed.

Second, you base reliability on whether or not something makes some 20-yr-old guy from Quebec's "list of phrases he loled at"? Where is his credibility? He didn't even make an argument of his own: just a blanket statement that he believed the quotes were wrong.

Say what you will of the reliability of the Zeitgeist movie, but it's certainly more credible than an alphabetized list that prejudiced thought built.

But if you really wanted to cause a massive amount of coverage, if you were unsure that aircraft were capable of taking out a high rise building, then you would use your planted explosives to make sure the buildings came down after impact.

Sort of the same thing that magicians do with their use of slight of hand...everyone is looking where they direct you to look, while where you are not looking the 'trick' is being carried out.

Who knows maybe if explosives are found to have been used...who can or cannot say it wasn't other terrorists working in conjunction with the hijack terrorists to make sure those buildings fell.

Eh, I kid. Still, my only point is that people should not immediately denounce something because loud people say it's stupid. A lot of the posts here have been just that: loud people with no real argument.

And even if something is said to be untrue, it can't hurt to watch it, to see the other side of the argument and form one's own opinion. I believe nothing of the conspiracy, personally, but the pervasiveness of the issue shows how willing people in this country are to form battle lines, get behind a few loudmouths without thinking things through and continue to make bad decisions for the rest of the country.

Yes, I do not like Bush. He never should have been a candidate in 2000, and never should have been re-elected in 2004. The only thing I take away from the Zeitgeist movie is the idea that we are a country of idiots, led by kind words, magic tricks and fear.

I need only two sources to know this. First, the midwest and southern US. I have seen the people who would vote for the next president based on how nice his smile looked, and I'm sure they'll take this one as a race battle and nothing else.

Second, I live in Newark, NJ. I have seen the people who live here, the families in low-income housing, the working class, people who don't speak English and know little outside of their own livelihood. And I have seen how the term "Homeland Security" can be so scary to them. Hell, Homeland Security is a scary term: it's the Overwatch in Half Life 2, the phrase "Community, Identity, Stability" in Brave New World, the Clerics in Equilibrium. Not to mention police activities in this city. The people live by fear, afraid to go against the grain lest something happen to them.

Those are the sources of my belief that this country is headed in the wrong direction and has been for some time. Whether or not 9/11 was a conspiracy, the results are the same. Loose Change, Zeitgeist, and all other "sources" pointing to a conspiracy are the result of people who fear their own government, while many people who denounce them are either too trusting or just going with the flow.
