It's neither, actually. It's to give the character some distance from the shadow.

Yes. It is. Quite. SPIFFY.

On a related note, I decided to redo Media Ruler (Skim back a few pages, and you'll see the original) and make it just that much more awesome, renaming it to "Gods Right Hand Monster".

Social criticism ensues.

You know, it's funny. I spent the entire holidays drawing, as opposed to actually studying the history of art from the Lascaux Cave Paintings up to the Renaissance for my half yearly examination.

I think it's on Monday week. So plenty of time to read, and memorise 300 pages. Not to mention 5 other subjects I haven't studied for either.

So I haven't posted anything here in aaaages. I blame the Miniposter contest.

I've been working on draft character concepts for a flash series I intend to start...sometime this century. [More on my userpage.]
Here's the draft sketches of one of the characters with a cat like robot helmet.

Whoa! This is awesome! How is it that nobody has commented on this yet? I actually like several of the pieces you've posted here but by far this is my favorite. I really like your color sense in this one; you've got all of the colors I love; blues and pinks with some greens tastefully scattered about.

Also, good job on the "space colors." I never seem to get those quite right.

I have to say I do prefer this over the sketchy style of some of the earlier stuff you uploaded; and it's definitely a huge improvement over the original version. This has kind of an album cover vibe to it; something eye catching to get you to pick up a single you might not otherwise notice.

Anyway, sorry I didn't get around to commenting on your stuff until now, but it's quite good. Also, good luck in the Ng Miniposter Girl Contest.

I keep asking my self that. Sigh, I'm so lonely. Maybe it's because nobody likes me...

Or maybe it's the fact I keep uploading these at the dead of American night. I entirely blame the sun and its rotate-y ways.

So for mothers day, I did nothing. Like I have for the last 17 years. For some reason my mum goes 'Hey, do something, cause, I said so'. I ended up writing the dumbest thing in a card - "Thanks for food and money" (It sounded good at the time).

...And then making this - for her presumably - because I don't really do anything other draw paint/draw.

I should get more hobbies.

Oh, I had forgotten about that image... Ah, back in the day...

Something I did for the worst blag in the world. -_-

A picture is just a series of colours and lines. What the image actually is is completely dependant of the audience. A conscious mind will see it as one thing, while to an inanimate object, it is simply a series of colours and lines.

Stark improvements here, you're coming along.

Your last pictue seems to show that you know more about facial anatomy that you've previously let on.

I would, however, give more studies a shot. Your figures have been rather stiff in a motion tweened flash movie sort of way.

...I doubt that.

Yeah, never seem to get those 'action shots' right, so I tend to avoid them. I'll try at a later date when I've leveled my drawing skills.

Got bored today. Decided to pimp my blag. See it in full here.

2nd rejected piece of the Dinosaur ART-OFF! (refer to last post).
The paint job in this one is probably way better than anything else I'll make, but it lacks the awesomeness of my third piece which I'm working on now.

Did I already mention Art-Off 2? If not, there's more on my page.
This is the WIP for it, the theme being 'Nature vs Urban'.
Requires the final background, and the protruding light coming from behind the tree, then we should be right.

I have finally developed a style of which looks half decent and more importantly I'm considerably comfortable with.
I don't know how it is in other countries, but for my final year of art, we're supposed to make one final piece over an entire year. I'm planning of doing something in the same vain as this piece.

Can you inherit artistic talent? I guess your case is like when a couple with super powers have a kid and there's a slight chance he'll be powerless.

Sky High?

I opened up Photoshop and started drawing blankly - no idea, no eraser, no brush alterations - and this is what I came up with.
