Here's an idea - how about a "Turning on a Dime" theme? Each submission has to, at one point, change in a way that takes the listener completely by surprise. The change can be as dramatic or subtle as the artist wants it to be, and the creativity and execution of that change would be the main criteria to decide the winners. ;)

why dont we make a MAC based on a certain artist? Like.. "honour Chronamut with a song MAC"

I think you should make a contest based solely on how beautiful, serene, and heavenly of a song you can make - a "light" competition.

Ok then... I'm suggesting a combination of Rig's "...kazoo in the key of G in 6/8 time...", Karco's "Turning on a Dime" and Mrmilkcarton's "loop" as follows:

MAC entries must have:
A minimum of two tempo changes as well as at least two time signature changes. (2/4 to 4/4 not allowed)
The tempo and signature changes must NOT occur at the same point!
Maximum track length - 1m:30s
Track must loop (as seamlessly as possible with MP3's)

OPEN TO ALL GENRES

That sounds like a good idea, except for one thing: FL Studio can't do time signature changes while playing, and most people here use FL Studio.

Export .wav import into a new project and keep going. I've done it a few times. Can get messy sometimes with half a dozen files for the one song. But it's a challenge, and that's what the MACs are about, challenging yourself. Yes?

Well, it is a menu option, it just does get extremely messy. And its a hassle, moreso than a challenge. As in, it can be done, but its not really worth it. I'd just stay in 4/4 and make the beat compound instead.

But how about about a general music, unrestricted MAC.

Let people submit any work they've done in the last say, two years on the basis that it has to have a score of say, over 4.3, then duke it out to find the best audio portal song EVER.

It's about time that all this new development in NG actually pointed back at some of the older audio works :P

To tell the truth, i would say that if the next MAC was to be without restriction, i suggest the contestants create a song rather than submit an older work. The purpose of the MACs is also to show one's skill. I don't see the point in submitting an older work when you can submit a better song.
