in a couple of weeks, i need to get my wisdom teeth removed. the dentist told me about all these side effects that might occur after he pulls them out. like one is i might die, somehow.

any of you guys had some dental related crap you had to go through?

im going to be sedated for half the day :(

well i dont really have a choice. one of my teeth that's coming out is swelling up pretty bad so i have to get them all pulled. i dont get how its painful, i would be sedated the whole time so i wont feel anything until i wake up...

better get them removed or theyll cause more problems in the future

Shit, I heard my wisdom teeth are coming already for me. That shit is going to hurt, and I had my braces removed like 2 years ago and they can totally ruin my straight teeth. So, I am probably going to take them out. Why can't they just give me some gas to put my asleep while they do it?

My dentist told me that wisdom tooth removal isn't anywhere near as scary as all the horror stories make it seem. You can either get local anesthesia or be put to sleep for the duration, and afterwards, you just have to eat nothing but soft foods for a brief period of time. Like ice cream! Everybody loves ice cream!

Be glad you don't live back in the 1800s, when whiskey was the only anesthetic you could get and sterilization was practically impossible.

The Pain Is Going To Be So Bad; That You Will Sleep Through Most of It... Then You Won't Even Want To Eat So All You Can Do Is Drink Fluids... In About A Week You'll Start To Feel Better, But I Don't Think There's Any Chance You Could Die Due To The Fact Most People Get Them Taken Out... Best of Luck!

where im going to have them removed, im going to be injected with something that makes me fall asleep until they stop injecting the liquid in. isnt that just as good?

i think all this pain bullshit is just...bullshit. i already had some procedure with teeth, where i just got a local anesthetic, it was pretty painful. so im ready for this shit

I went to an oral surgeon to get all four of my wisdom teeth extracted back in January. I was fully conscious during the entire procedure and I didn't feel any pain, but a little bit of pressure. It took about a week for the swelling to go away and the stitches to dissolve, and I was eating normally again after 2 days. The painkillers helped, but I didn't have to take them for any more than 3 days.

stfu. are you a dentist? no. do you know what sort of procedure they will do? no. theyre not working on my limbs, there are a lot of things that could go wrong (although very rare) but they mention it (even if they dont have to because its written on the agreement sheet) so youre not surprised when you suddenly lost sensitivity in your jaw.

i had to get my wisdom teeth taken out. Getting the teeth taken out itself wasn't bad but the week following was horrible. I was bleeding the the pain was excruciating. Plus you can only eat soft food. Be sure not to get the operation during school cause you'll look like a chipmunk.

they didnt give me a choice if i wanted to be conscious or not. im going to be drugged, numbed, and shit will happen for less than 30 minutes that i will never remember. how fun

I need to lose my wisdom teeth reasonably soon, before the roots wrap around my nerves and it becomes excruciatingly painful to take them out. I would leave them in, but it's physically impossible - I can barely fit all my teeth in my mouth right now.

You can actually die. Not from the procedure itself, but from the anesthetics. The anesthesiologist has to VERY carefully keep you in a sedated state. Too much sedatives, and you die.

Anesthesiologists pay the highest insurance of any doctor for a reason.

With the painkiller the pain will be deadened a bit though still somewhat nausating, once it wears off you'll know how Frank felt in "Bullet In The Head" except that he felt it in the back of his head. The pain kept me up for a while so I took advil to surpress it temporary.
