But there are none at this time. Solar and wind power are not suited to providing base load power. And fusion is still quite far away. For base load, at this time, we either use fossil fuels, or we use nuclear power.

Lol at shooting waste into the sun with a railgun, the kinetic energy needed is already huge, but you've got to take the massive losses due to air friction into account as well. I wonder whether we wouldn't need more energy to shoot the waste than we get by producing it :) I hope that by the time we can build railguns that can shoot at other planets, we already have fusion up and running commercially.
