Anyway, it's Obama vs. McCain. New vs. Old. (quite literally, see things younger than McCain) Change vs. Consant.
Yes, I am biased, and I will be voting for Obama in November, but let's see what other have to say.

I see McCain as still being valuable but not in a president position.
I am happy with both of the candidates this year as compared to last time when it seemed like we had two idiots to choose from.
Both Obama and McCain seem far more competent in comparison.
I'm a huge McCain supporter :]
I'm a real JFK fan. I liked many of his pragmatic policies and his ideas.
For those of you that do not realize it, Obama models his style of speech and policies off those of John F Kennedy. There is quite a strong connection there. I felt that JFK was a great president, one of my favorites, so I'd love to see this continue in the footsteps of Obama. Kennedy represented a younger generation, Obama is doing the same thing.
I think that McCain is too old to lead this country. He's an old man and represents older ideals. In todays changing world, having a museum piece in office is not going to help us. We need an ambitious and young president who has the balls to go against the grain.
Too make a republican connection, many of Bush's economic policies are similar to Ronald Reagan's.
IE: Cut taxes, deficit spend, large defense budget. I think that these policies are very harmful and have lead to the devaluation of the US dollar and recent economic slowdown. So in the sense that many Reagan conservatives voted for Bush, many Kennedy liberals will likely vote for Obama.

McCain is younger than Ronald Reagan was than he took office, Reagan led our country to knock down the Berlin Wall. He led this country while suffering a bullet, suffering from a stomach tumor and many other things. But I do think that Obama is a great candidate despite his political inexperience in the federal government field. Change is necessary in this country, that is what Obama is more likely to do than McCain.

One president can't claim all the glory for 30 years of policy and politics. Reagan was just in office when things finally coalesced. A fortunate happening for him, but not one soley attributed to him. The USSR had a lot more to do with it than the US specifically.
Change is necessary in this country, that is what Obama is more likely to do than McCain.
I like the look the of Obama's policies, and I'm likely to vote for him. Unfortunately, he is too idealistic. Most of his policies only work if people go along with them, and unfortunately, people make jobs out of getting around rules and laws. I'll be voting for him anyway come November, but I wouldn't expect to see a huge change or washington turned on its head. If you want that, you'd better vote for some other kind of person in your home state for the legislative branches where it matters. Someone not tied into the corruption. Good luck with that.
Also, I'm not officiating this topic. If another mod who frequents this forum wants to lock the thread they can. I think there are a lot of different things to discuss on the issue, and narrowing it down to one topic might not be the best course of action.

As much as I like the Obama support (Yeah! Barack the vote!) This isn't a free +1 post with mindless go (insert name here) thread. It's a thread to discuss the multitude of issues that will go with the elections.

I repeat...
Funny how people say they want a bi-partisan government and "change", yet while Obama was in the Senate, he's been part of the select few of the opposition on bi-partisan bills and nominations, whereas McCain has co-sponsored many bi-partisan bills.
Obama talks about his "good Judgment" all while having associations with extreme characters, even launching his political career in the home of a terrorist.
Well there you have it. Obama's two greatest selling points are also his two greatest weaknesses.
Fucking idiots backing Obama, L-O-L
Obama wants to favored bans on handguns when he was in the Senate. That's all I need to know to realize he isn't the best choice for America.

Adam i hope you understand that Kennedy was not even close to the kind of liberal obama is, 'by today's standards' as someone mentioned before.
Kennedy's legacy of domestic policy would also be nothing like Obama's... The only program i know of that Kennedy began was research of space exploration... Obama has BIG spending plans for this country, spending that even with tax hikes we cannot afford; soon they're won't be enough money to tax at all. If Obama is so pragmatic he should know that the US dollar is in the tank unless we start giving power back to the people. Mccain unfortunately is only slightly better, but i see Obama as more of a Jimmy Carter than a Kennedy; A Newcomer of hope.

Agreed! I've seen both comparisons, but more to Jimmy Carter. It's a shame though, that Carter only got 1 term...I would have liked to seen him in the second term.

yeah..even though obama is trying to follow Kennedy's footsteps...hes farther away than he realizes
Random thought:
neither of our candidates are as good as in years past, but obama seems better than Mccain to me...do you think he can win without hilary being his VP?..if she isn't his VP then the party is divided..in previous elections the party that is divided loses..

He could always take bill! :P
You're right... Obama is going to have a tough time, Hillary's followers strongly beleive that Obama, the DNC, and the media betrayed the clinton legacy; they're colaborators to an unforgivable scheme that can only be punished by voting against Obama.

Yes, well having Hillary as VP would be a death sentence for the Democracts. Would not be good either way, I'm still guessing it will be Jim Webb.

another random thought...do you think hillary would have chose bill as VP if she got the nomination? i would be embarrassed to be the first "First Man"

Injured Workers rights were taken away in the 1920's by an insurance company (WCB), it's high time we got them back.
