How Do I Get Back In The Groove? 2008-06-10 17:05:23 Reply

I'm having a few issues right now with this potential case of animator's block brought on by my junior high school year. After the complete b*tch that was second semester, I decided I really needed to apply myself to developing flashes if it's going to be of any use to me in the future. Trouble is, is that I'm having a rally hard time applying myself with a good time commitment to really anything?

Anyone else going through/have had such a animator's block, cuz I would really appreciate any ways that my get my flash adrenaline going again. thanks

Just watch all your favorite animations again, perhaps even frame by frame to look at their techniques and commitment and also find a topic you want to animate with. Reread the flash tutorials, start putting pen to paper and just flow with it.

Hello sir
You were in the bunny suicide collab, as i was. If you wanted to know that, you do now.

I usually have those blocks, when i dont feel like doing any flash at all and like all i do just comes out bad and takes too much time. At such periods, i just ignore flash and remember that it doesnt really matter. I do it for fun, not because i have to, so if i dont think its fun anymore, i dont have to. This helps me because after a few days, weeks or months, i start getting ideas that i think will make excellent flashes, i start planning the animation in my head and im back in the lovely state of not being able to wait until you get back home to continue on your flash. Just take a break and pick it up again when you feel motivated, inspirated and like its actually going to be fun to animate!

go to your submissions and look at the positive reviews, always gets me =D

and to help you follow through I would suggest storyboarding it when you have the energy. I find something that kills my momentum is when I run out of ideas while I'm animating, therefore my whole groove is thrown off.

Hope it helps!

Tim Allen+Santa Claus= A flash that doesn't have nearly enough views! Watch The Tim Allen!
