Was anything wrong with last gen?

I mean like with the GameCube, PS2 and Xbox.

There seemed to be none of this "OMFG0RZ111 MY XBOX TREE50 GOT RROD!" or "TEH PS3 HAZ N0 GAM3S!" or "TEH WII IS ONLY FOR KIDS AND FANBOYS!"

I mean last gen no-one seemed to complain, I remember from 8 years ago I bought a PS2 just a couple of weeks after release for £300ish, that's the price of the PS3 now, yet people complain about it's price...

There just didn't seem to be much of a console war (well maybe there was towards the end of that generation).

And I don't remember anyone ever saying "which next-gen consoles you got" it was just "what consoles you got" unlike what most people say nowadays because they're too retarded to figure out its current-gen.

I don't really remember many fan-boys, I owned all 3 consoles from the last-gen (still do) so I was pretty balanced, although I only ever went on the GameCube for SSBM, which was a good game. If there were any fan-boys in the last gen, it was probably Nintendo...

Yea, your right, there is basically no compitition between the new consoles, but now their are more safistcated one's like the Wii , bringing interactive features between the console and user, which now takes skill to win games and seperates the people with skill - and the button mashers........

Its may be due to the fact that companies really didnt care then. If they did then Ps3s sales would go down very fast. Seems Sega lost intrest in making a console and failed.

The PS2 was perfect. Every game I wanted to play last gen was released on it at some point or another. This generation, there are games I'd play on both the PS3 and 360, but not enough to warrant buying both, so I miss out on a couple of games.

I rather listen to someone who can verbalize their rants without using the word "Fuck" and "Shit" in every sentence. It's alright in passing, but when you're doing it from a clear script for a video it's just cheesy and cheap 8th grade humor that gets quite dull quite fast.

There was wars between developers, but between me and my friends I can only remember it as variety of gaming when you went to someones house who had a console you didn't.
I loved going to my friends to play XBOX and ended up buying one for games like Halo and Halo 2, but since I got PS3 and they all got 360, it became a case of they didn't want to come to my house and I didn't want to go to theirs half as much.

Actually, I think the first console war started with the Atari 2600 and the Intellivision, but I could be wrong.

I think some of you guys are just too young to remember that this happens every generation. Nintendo has been accused of being kiddie since the N64 and beyond. It just seems more rampant because you can anonymously go on to the internet and argue about it more now. If you argued about video games in real life people would think you were a big dork.

Actually this generation is surprisingly similar to the last one (as long as you ignore the Dreamcast, which everyone did back then so it shouldn't be too hard). Last generation the PS2 was the early competitor that suffered from a number of technical problems that plagued early adopters while the Xbox was the Johnny-come-lately powerhouse that struggled to find AAA exclusives and whose potential was held back by the more popular PS2. Just switch Microsoft and Sony around and you pretty much have this generation. Nintendo is still being Nintendo and doing it's own thing which continues to give it a kid-centric appeal.

And believe me, the fanboys aren't anything new to this generation. I can't tell you how many fucking console war threads I had the displeasure of reading on plenty of different forums over the course of the Gamecube, Xbox, PS2 era. They've always been around to bitch and they'll always be around to bitch. It's easy to associate them with the now since they're right in your face and as gaming continues to grow there will naturally be more of them, but it's really nothing new.
