Running Vista Home Premium (32) BIT

I'm trying to partition my C: drive to dual boot a secondary operating system, but the option to shrink the drive isn't highlighted.

I can do it fine to my recovery drive, or my D: in this case, but that's only about 8Gb in size and I would rather it be taken from my C:.

I'm trying to slice off a good 10Gb, or about 10,000 Mb, give or take.

I know the answer is obvious, but this is getting annoying.

Unable to shrink my C: drive.

Right, and back up your data, I haven't tried it myself so I can't say how reliable it is.

You can just choose how much of the Windows partition you want to make a new one, I think

If it lasts more than 4 hours, you should go see your doctor.

Or stop looking at pictures of men.

That's the gist of it I've gotten while around the internet trying to find the answer. Any step by step instructions I've been following never answer why I can't do this final step.

I was going to get a Linux based OS but decided to go for XP when I realized we have a disk for it here.

And after 4 hours I found it to have done nothing of use.

Tried it, didn't help much. I just made a topic on the Vista forums with really no relevance at all besides a posted link to here, which doesn't answer my question at all.

Set your hard drive on fire, I'm sure that'll clear up a bit of space.

Other ones are like that, but gparted live has a gui and shit. You just got to press enter whenever it asks a question when starting up
