zzzzzzzz. SO MUCH TIME CODING!

and i did the animating
im surprised i could even do that haha

please let me know your thoughts

also anyone know a way for me to set it so that my char can only walk on set path? .... itd be put to use on the first thing

which i will completely change later on... and i mean COMPLETELY!!!

but for now its there just to run tests

and so far so good... no bugs...

still need animator for enemy

and if i forgot to mention anything im sorry but i will later lol

Well on the map, you can walk on water. That seems like a bug. While fighting, the enemies still look like things a 3rd grader would draw, so those need work (of course until you fight copies of yourself). It still needs a ton of work, but its definitely getting there.

lol yeah i dont know how to code it so that the water is something u cant walk on

unless i go in and place individual tiles or blocks

but how would i make it so that
if my character hits the width or the height of these he would stop
?

Right away I have a comment to make.
Usualy on this kind of games, pressing up arrow and right arrow for exemple, makes you go in diagonal. I know even simple directions coding pretty much always include diagonal on top-view games. perhaps you should look out to do so too.

and walk
which is flipped for walking left

It will help if you cot some better walk animations in general...
they are just 4 frame loops, and only 2 of them were actually drawn.
I'm sure you could implement middle frames, and a diagonal run animation,
especially considering you would only need two different diagonal anims (diag up and diag down)
which could be flipped for up left and down right etc.
Idle would be necessary too. If possible, fix the lag, it seems to run at a somewhat choppy pace.

Following coins is only fun for some time..

And the fighting isnt great, try making the enemys take damage only if the front of the sword hits them

how to make that work?

would i have to go into my char and put a hit box on the attack movieclip frames at the tip of the sword?

also here is the update...

the coin thing will eventually be thrown out but yeah
i fixed it up a lil and i also figured out how to change my enemy other than alpha
anyone know any other attributes that i can put besides alpha?
like the code for them?

i think ill just animate the enemies myself later on

unless someone wants to showcase something of theres in this game

also ima make them do more than walk and die

its gonna be an rpg type game taht will have puzzles that u must solve and objects u must move around or in place and levers that must be hit, mountain caves or something of the sort

talking trees and animals and clouds
(what can i say im native american and it is always good to be one with all things pure of this Earth - i mean game)

:P

and streetfighter style fighting

also a training ground thing where u can train the character by completing timed tasks based on the skill u want to boost

aka speed = obstacle course
strength= destroy all humans lol jk boxes
and health would be a running machine or a race between random person
and much more will be incorporated into this as i progress

all i need is a couple of enemy characters

human tribalish enemies is what im thinkin
anyone like the ideas

if not then why didnt u give me advice on directions to take lol

oooh the walk diagonal thing doesnt really matter as of now that is just something i was fooling around with lol

im prolly gonna have to learn to make a tile based map for the rpg part of game
but then i wouldnt be able to make it like i want to

i mean like having buildings and caves or dungeons
that u can enter

why do they move faster when you walk away and slower when you walk towards!?!?

the last tiem u asked me that i gave u a answer

its because there is a vcam running and also the enemy is attached using rootattachmovie

and none of the background is moving only the grass and tree thing
u can walk forever though

lol i know hittests man lol i changed the code to hittest a tiny box inside the sword

also the loop happened because jump and attack were true
and its sposed to go to a movieclip that i didnt make yet thats y it does that

i have a code set up for air attacks
which will all be added later

but doesnt anyone have ideas or something i should add
im not concerned with coding atm
but anything is good

and thank you for reminding me about the hittest thing
and the attack freeze isnt a problem its jsut cause the movieclip isnt there yet
