Odd Family Recipes

Well my family has a cookbook that has all kinds of recipes in it. You think of it, they got it.

One of the strangest things in there is a Salamander Soup.

4 8" long live salamanders
4 qt. water
3 potatoes
3 carrots
1/2 rutabaga
Spices

Bring water to a boil, submerge live salamandrs in boiling water. When they stop wiggling, simmer for 1 hour. Add vegetables and seasoning, simmer another 30 minutes.

Serves 4

Kinda different isn't it.

nothing really seems odd if you think about it, i mean depending on your background.
i come from an Indian background so we're used to spicy curries.
I've never encountered an 'odd dish' even when i went to India.
although i think due to some of the areas having less money and what not they would improvise on some of the ingredients, for example: tandoori chicken, i see no chickens, but plenty of pigeons!
