I recently saw the new trailer for the upcoming Star Trek film, and I've been officially excited by it. As such, I've been going on a Classic Trek binge... including the process of modelling the original 1701! This is the result of 5 frenzied hours of playing in Cinema 4D:

The model is still flying around without materials applied... but I couldn't wait. Until next time!

The ship looks good, but it is definitely unfinished. I hope that you finish it soon.

Art is never finished, only abandoned... with that said, here's the progress I've been making on the model:

Looking pretty good though. I'd love to see more of your comic as well. You might be onto something here! :D

Yep, still doin' the Star Trek thing... While testing the 'twirly parts' of the warp engine in a small animation I looked upon this frame and though... freakin' A.

Added details since last: Warp engine 'twirly parts' (what do they do?), hull plating on the top of the saucer(not visible here), shuttle bay doors(not visible here).

*Gasp*!!! You should make that awesome character of yours in 3D! Also, the recent works you've been posting are great.

I tried modelling him before in 3d with moderate success, I'm sure I would be much more successful this time around... that said, I'm still messin' with the Trek...

Head to YouTube to see what I mean!

Added a couple of new features and details to the Classic Trek Enterprise, and I also kit-bashed the model into a classic trek representation of the USS Kelvin featured in the upcoming Star Trek film.

Anywho, this one makes me think of 2nd Edition D&D... when THAc0 was used as a tool to keep newbies out, and now 4th Edition is out where all of the 4th Edition 1st level characters make any 5th level 2nd or 3rd edition characters look sorry...

Still, I have my good memories.

Like this one. Elder Scrolls I think, flames need work, as do your textures. Take some time to learn how to render them in Photoshop. Also get some other programs man. 3Ds Max, Zbrush. You'd benefit from having a better software package. Keep at it.

Hey, thanks for the pointers.... However, I don't think the lacking quality is because I'm using cinema4d over 3d studio max. Every 3d artist I have ever talked to claims "mama's milk" syndrome. To illustrate what I mean, I recently downloaded Blender to see what I could do with it and the answer was, "Not much," but when I looked at the gallery showcasing Blender... I was knocked off of my feet.

Pro-tips like making materials in photoshop are great though. I've yet to really master 'baking' materials. So yeah, I need modeling tips is what I'm looking for. Not, "Got get this program..."

Well, I've put the classic NCC-1701 on hold for now and I've started work on another project. If all goes well this model will only take 2-3 times as long to model as the last one. The NCC-1701-A:

Here's a progress report on my Enterprise remodel:
I have successfully modelled the saucer section. The plates you see on screen was solved using a bump map and I think it works remarkably well.

I will be moving on to the neck area later... for now, rest.

Of course I remember you man, and thanks for the motivation! Recently my computer decided to kill itself... luckily I had it resurrected... and now I bring you the USS Regent:

A near completed model of the constitution refit featured in the 1980's-1990's Kirk movies. Hope you enjoy!

I first picked up Cinema 4d in January for my intro to 3d class... and from May to December I like to think I've made a good deal of progress.

Here's to 2009!

Excuse me sir but may I inquire that these "arts" you have are terrible? I mean, really, good technique, I don't know shit about 3-D, but all you do with your skill is waste it on generic looking spaceships. That's all, you could do so many more original things.

Well, that's just radical. You're radical.

You have a point, sir. I am spending a lot of time on space ships... perhaps I should take a request... anyone have any suggestions?

Been too long since I visited your theard. Gotta admit, you can draw a spaceship quite well, but maybe too much (like I am the one to say "you draw that stuff too much" :P ). Can't think of anything of any purpouse for a request, though :/

Sure, we all share one thing. We will all die sooner or later. Thank god.
