Hello, I'm sure some of you already know me as I occasionally drop posts here and there. It's been a long year so far, but I figured it appropriate to start an official art thread here on the forum now that I'm in a lull between storms.

My first pic is a self portrait, I hope you all enjoy! (Yes, I'm that fugly...)

The second one is the best. Is there some kind of concept behind the clock and the figure in the first one that I'm not getting? And are you using vine charcoal or graphite?

First one is vine charcoal, the next one is also charcoal and the last one is graphite.

The first one is a self portrait, and the clock was supposed to represent time being on my mind and the figure near the bottom is the hero character in my comic book story line... here's an image:

Wow, you've improved a lot since last time!
Also, nice 3D art. Very impressive.
In fact, I like all of it.

Why thank you, that means a lot to me. This will be the last 3D piece I'll feature on this thread, because I mainly want this to be for my drawn artwork. Otherwise you can find my stuff on the 3D artists thread:

It was an event that turned Major Pearce away from being a flight instructor. The trainee had attempted a 14 G turn in the void of space. Unfortunately, due to bad maintenance, the Gravity Diffuser failed to function and ripped the trainee's fighter apart.

It is widely known that pilots involved in such tragedies are killed long before the fighter falls apart. However, it is still considered one of the more painful and grotesque ways to die.

On your second 3D one, it seems like their could be some texture on the exploded ship shrapnel, but it still looks very nice.

Somebody said I am way too much in love with a character I made...

Well, when you have a crazily detailed timeline of events that happen to the guy...
Have a plotline where the poor schmuck is attacked by something that gives him powers...
Is hunted by a military organization that's so secret that the elected leaders don't know it exists...
And manages to cram in aliens...
And a love story (that sadly does not involve the guy)...

Then you got something that you like thinking about and drawing.

So here's another iteration of one of the big events and yet another drawing...

Here's a WIP of a WindClaw comic book cover. Right now it's still just the figure, and I'm still working on that even... but here it is none-the-less.

You've gotten exceptionally better. I mean it.

You'll get a shit load more better if you do gesture stuff to nail down figure proportions.

I decided that since the 3D thread is now filled with extremely exceptional artists that I wont crowd them with my bullsh*t. That said, I will be bringing my 3d stuff to my own thread.

I am using a program called Cinema 4D which is pretty much identical to Maya, 3D studio max or Blender.
What I really need to do is learn how to rig characters, that way I'd show more people (however stylized the would be) in my 3d shots. Right now I'm really cheating it with space shots and wotnot.

I especially like your 3D stuff, and I have a question. How do you get all the fighters and objects to be so smooth-looking? My 3D models in Cinema 4D are all blocky and squarish...

Next to the primitive and spline dropdown menues there is a HyperNURBS object dropdown menu. Among the selections are things like latheNURBS and ExtrudeNURBS.

To help an object looks smoother creat a HyperNURBS object (It's icon looks like a small rounded cube held within an transparent cube), then make your object a child of the HyperNURB.

The initial effect is rounding off
every edge. Which in many cases is not what is wanted. To correct that go to the Structure drop down menu and select a tool named "Weight HyperNURBS", use this tool in conjunction with poly selection, line selection and point selection to "weight" various points agains the mesh so you can get sharp objects where desired.

Hope that helps.

Here's another look at the tri-wing, except it's a whole squadron this time. They are patrolling for Jemin fighters that have been detected within the planet's orbit. Should they find them, the pilot's orders are to engage and destroy.

Hopefully their new pilot, Erin Tiernay, is up to the task...
