Swiss armies are better locked, because there's no chance the blade is going to recoil back when under any sort of pressure or stress. I've sliced my thumb already for the blade (on a cheap one BTW) by having the blade at a funny angle and applying pressure.

Maybe it was my own ignorence but it would be nice to have the security.

i got a very cool knife from my work and i carry it all the time,
about 4 months ago it kept me from getting jumped, 3 burly teens where following me in a rough part of town, i was walking to the theater at 12 pm, i causaly took the knife out of my pocket when i didnt feel safe and i popped the blade open, and kinda held it behind me so they could see it, they turned around and went on there marry way.
it is a very small knife but it is great for scoring dry wall and stirophome.

I usually carry a knife on me when I'm going to be anywhere for a period of time. Sometimes it's my old standby, two-blade pocket knife. Other times it's my badass, 8 inch blade survival knife. Which I carry depends on where I'm going and what I'll be doing. I carry it because I use it as a general tool. Sometimes I carry my pocket knife and a multi tool. The least I've ever carried is 1; The most, 5 or 6. At anytime, I could have on me: Pocketknife, boxcutter, multi-tool, sheath knife, penknife, or any combination of them. Just off the top of my head, I have about 15 or 20 knife or knife-like tools in my room. And that's just what I can find. And No, I'm not Emo.

I keep a pocket knife on me 24/7 and sometimes my Khukri... aka the level 30 knife. Only when I wear my WW2 German trench coat though... better not let people know I'm armed >.<

You moan about the government worrying that everyone under 78 is a mugger, but why else would you feel the need to carry a knife unless you thought the same of most people you see on the streets? I'm glad that they are tackling down on it. People are dying needlessly from knife attacks.

Actually, Yes, we can. It is this freedom to bear arms that allowed us to rebel against the British, and it is what makes America great. It is perfectly legal to carry a knife over 3 inches in the United States. 3 inches is the max blade length for a folding knife to not be considered a weapon. If a pocket knife's blade is longer than three inches, you cannot carry it in your pocket, as it will be deemed a concealed weapon. As for a sheath knife, as long as it's in plain view, it perfectly legal. Switchblades are ilegal, however. Most people just don't carry big knives around because it is abnormal to do so without reason. In fact, if you have one, you can carry around a pistol in plain view, and you can have a fucking assault rifle in your truck window if you so choose. So, before you tell someone form another country to shut the fuck up, tell them to go back to their own country, and call them an ignorant shitface for not being aware of a foreign law, you would be best advised to make sure that YOU have said law correct.

Does that mean that not all deaths are needless? Look, 3000 people a day die just going to work. 150,000 more die everyday. You're just saying that because you see a few little 15 year old fuckers get stabbed on the news and think knives only purpose are for killing people. Which is entirly not true. Fisherman, hunters, Survival experts/extreme wilderness explorers etc all need a knife.

I can easily modify an electric nail gun to shoot nails but I bet you'd never object to that unless I mentioned it first. Also, sledgehammers, power tools, saws etc. Are all dangerous.
