I've barely made any headway into the story missions because I have too much fun just driving around or shooting people or any other number of things. So I guess it's a matter of personal preference. If you're at a loss when the game isn't telling you what to do, then I guess that GTA IV doesn't have a lot of replay value. I'll still be popping it in every now and then well into this generation, though.

But I agree that Rockstar needs to work on adding some variety to the main missions. Luckily, though, the gameplay and controls in this installment are much less painfully stiff than the previous games', so the missions are much more bearable and often quite fun.

I fucking love going into the hospital and having a big ol' massacre of patients with my baseball bat followed by a lengthy shoot-out with the police afterwards.

The only thing that would make the game better for me would be setting the next one in London so I don't get pwnd for driving on the wrong side of the road. I mean yeah, there's the whole strictest-gun-control-in-pretty-much-the -whole-fucking-world-with-the-possible-e xception-of-the-Vatican. But I'm sure they can find a way around that.

I like the game. Though it is a bit repeative & busy work, I love the added feature of GPS. It makes finding things alot easier.

I was hoping that there would be more buildings that you could go into, the church & the Statue of Happiness would be two great places to have a shoot out.

The online dating is funny & I had two dates with girls on there (Kiki & Carmen), Carmen pissed me off so bad that I told her no for anther date & shot her.

Multiplayer is fun when you have other people from Newgrounds playing because when the host is losing, he doesn't end the game. That happens with alot of random matches.

I like the game better than the others, I just wished you could enter more buildings.

For me, it's not a problem of having fun.
The game can be a challenge when you reach into the higher wanted levels, the problem is the repetativeness of the game and how the missions have been made. it's just terrible, the same for online. untill I had to earn hundereds of thousands of dollars to go up a rank, i was having serious fun.
but having to spend hours on end trying to link upto someones playstation just so i can get an Online match is just pathetic and a watse of time.

part of what I have typed does kind of go against my original post, I know.

for those who can't get themselves an online match...
Multiplayer/ Custom game/ Game type/ Private slots +1/ Start.

this WILL secure you a game, and you will NEVER lose connection.

yeah, it's simple to figure out. but some people might not know it.

Same thing happened with one of my friend's GTA's for the PS, however, I have not faced the problem with San Andreas (Xbox) or Vice City (PC)

I think Vice City has a lot of replay value because of actual good mods and good multiplayer (Multi Theft Auto). I just enjoyed driving (As a mexican from the airport) into a military base, and camping it out. Nobody found me, unless they had the same idea as I did, jack a vehicle and run everyone over.

Yes there is, as long as you have a PC copy of San Andreas, then download the mod correctly, you can play online. I noticed many moons ago on a video, that someone was Truth. (NG user is a meth-smoking hippy?!)

I don't get much time to play these days... on Sunday I might be able to squeeze in 2 to 3 hours max. I have to admit that although I still enjoy the game (yet to beat it) it is geting old... really fucking fast.

The truth is, there's just not much to it. The city looks nice but that's it... it just LOOKS nice. You can't really interact with it. There are very few buildings you can go in and there's really no way to tell which ones they are without just walking up to every door you see. The worst part is, the buildings you can go inside, aren't the buildings you want to be inside of. Fuck going inside of a random apartment or a hospitial... I want to go inside of the cities main landmarks.

And the citizens... very unimpressive. Sure it was neat the very first day to push a guy holding groceries just to see him drop the bag and spill everything, but is that really the best feature GTAIV has to offer? I like watching the cops search cars and arrest people but after an hour, who gives a fuck? I'd be just as happy if they all just walked around aimlessly doing nothing. I've yet to find any real suprises in the way people act. At least Saints Row had hidden people commiting suicide.

I have no problem with the missions. It's a GTA game, what do you expect? The problem I have, is that there seems to be more infasis on Bowling then there is on actually running the missions. I feel like I get more phone calls to hang out with my friends then I do killing people. Why? If I wanted to play a Bowling game, I'd buy a Bowling game; but I didn't, I bought GTA... so why is Rockstar so intent on me spending more time Bowling (or driving a boat, or playing darts, or watching a comedy show) then killing? Just leave me the fuck alone. If I wanted to talk on the phone and hang out with my friends, I wouldn't be playing video games.

But that's just the start of the problems. Let's talk about driving... has anyone been able to turn a corner without doing a 360 yet? How about using the breaks without sliding 15 feet? Why do all the cars handel as if I'm a blind NASCAR racer doped up on waaay too much cocaine and Red Bull? Holy shit, I just wanted to make a left... not do 2 consecutive 360-spins into a crowded sidewalk and a cop car.

You can't purchase cars, nor can you re-buy cars you previously owned. You can't customize yours cars either. And fuck storeing them... sure you can park a bunch of cars in front of your house but good luck remembering what car you parked where. And why even try? Becaues you can't re-buy them using them is the same thing as throwing them away. But why even try to save them? You can't do shit to them so fuck it... just go take another one. In a game based around stealing cars, they sure don't put much time into the whole "car" aspect of the game do they? Might as well change the name to "mob hitman" and call it a day.

Changing your clothes also blows. There's not a whole lot of options in what you can wear. It's not like I get to choose what shirt, and then what jacket... it's a combo peice. Either I wear the cool black jacket with the shitty orange turtle neck sweater, or I wear the cool black T-Shirt with the shitty mustart yellow button up coat. Fuck, why do I always have to look like an asshole in this game? I'm also very disapointed in the lack of options. At first there was plenty to buy... hats, glasses, shirts, pants, etc... but where did it all go? I've yet to find another store that's sold hats or glasses. And my shirts and pants have been traded in for full body suits. Add that to the fact that I can't shave or change my hairstyle and you have about 1% customization rate. Not that it fucking matters, because it takes 17 days to change your clothes anyway. Why do I have to load every peice of clothes I own? Did Rockstar not even look at Saints Row when they where desiging this? The worst part is, you have to wear a suit for certain missions... so not only did it take me 10 minutes to get ready, but then I found out I couldn't start the mission because it was too late. Nothing says fun like standing around with nothing to do for 3 in game hours. >:(

And then of course, there's the story... if you can even call it that. To me it seems more like a bunch of random missions that have no point or meaning thrown together into a story with the occassional "I'm looking for somebody" line tossed into a cut scene every now and then to make you feel like something is happening. But it's not... I'm pretty sure I'm really close to being done with the game, but to be honest... I have no idea because I'm not really sure what the goal is. "Kill some guy" I guess. But considering the entire game is based around "killing some guy", I don't really have any sense of acomplishment from getting closer to this goal.

At this point, I'd just like to finish the story mission so I can turn my phone off forever, finish up the achievements, and probably never play the game ever again. It's sad when a game we've waited so long for turns out to be a grind to finish it in order to move on with life.

id agree to the fact that the game just about sucked. I played both endings and did most of the other odds and ends before i just got sick of the damn game. total let-down. I'm probably gonna go to gamestop and trade it in for Saints Row II when it come out, lol. It seems a hell of alot better, come to think of it the first saints row was more fun than GTA IV...oh well.

There isn't enough stuff to do. All the reviews said there were tons of things to do in free roam, but its essentially just driving around and killing each other or elaborately killing yourself. Single player has the same issue. Its been ok for the 80 hours I've gotten out of it.

the game is nowhere near awful, at all. It's just because when i played GTA before now, it was sparingly, at friend's houses, and i was only about 13. Therefore, I ROFLMAO'ed everytime i ran somebody over or made the army come in. It's not that GTA isn't fun anymore, it's just that I don't find random violence such a riot as I used to.

You people expect too much, looking at it as a whole it is awesome. I could ramble on about pros and cons, but I loved it, not my most memorable Grand Theft Auto experience, but from someone who owns EVERY GTA game, this does live up to it's great expectations.

If you are bored after doing 95 missions, you have a reason, you completed the fucking game. 100% is just a jib to keep you playing. Stop your whining.

My main gripes is how pointless money is in the game... in vice city you can buy properties or something... once you do that bank job you pretty much will never run out of money again. I dont even bother taking cars anymore, i just take a cab everywhere.

I also dont like how they abandon Niko's storyline and then haphazardly stumble back on it much later in the game... you never get into it. He's just an errand boy and has no drive. In previous versions you like build a rep etc. Clothing selection is boring this time around. etc etc

I think its a good game but they didnt port over things that were fun in previous versions.. which is kind of strange.

I don't know how you guys be bored with it. It's worth playing through at least twice so you can do spare all the people you killed first time round, and vice versa.

I did that and i just didnt like it too much. It was too boring, too repetitive, the missions were total crap when compared to previous games, even both of the Stories Series on PSP were to some extent better...
