Who initiated the Nintendo flash?

Once upon a time, before the Mario craze, there was a kid named Clark Lybeck. He was my roommate. He started the Nintendo related Flash movies on NG. Can you believe it? Can you believe that there was a beginning to all of it? There was.

He hosted Classic Nintendo (classicnintendo.com) and made some fine flash movies and webcards. The site has been down since Spring, but you can find some of his greatest toons on Newgrounds.

The Color of Envy: The Mario Brothers have done it again. They've foiled King Koopa's plans and now they rejoice with the rest of the Mushroom kingdom. But Luigi has other plans. He is tired of playing second fiddle to his pudgy older brother. How many times does he have to save the day before he get's a little recognition?

Super Mario Orchestral: Mario conducts his own orchestra. Soon, he begins to have visions of the good old days.

The Last Metroid: A Dark Sci-Fi thriller staring Samus. The last Metroid has been stolen by space pirates lead by the Mother Brain. Brave Samus the bounty hunter investigates.

He was a legend. But Clark has been gone for years, and in his absense no one has been able to fill his shoes. Many of tried, many of failed, many of thought they have done a good job while just making the Nintendo flash project a big joke (Randy Solem).

So let's just respect the classics and leave this lost art form to rest, instead of raping it over and over again like some do (Randy Solem).

Yeah, "The Color of Envy" was one of the first mario parodies I have ever seen. One thing I liked about it is how much it looked like a TV cartoon.

He was a sprite/game parody king along with the likes of Randy and Razoric. I loved his e-cards. One of my faves was the Sesame street one, I sent that to like a dozen friends.

Clark gave what the people had never seen before, it was new and fresh. Maybe it wasn't always what people wanted, but it had to be made.
