Why is it a fact?
Because everything in guitar hero is in rock back, but only better.

only way you could like guitar hero more is if you like downgrade shit.

GH has....small toyish guitar.
Graphics are cartoony like.
only can play the guitar, bass sometimes.
Character selection is minimal

Rock band
Has realistic guitar, except no strings. But the buttons are fret like.
Graphics look slightly realistic.
You can play drums, mic, guitar, bass.
You build your own character so character selection is vast.
online play kicks ass btw.

So there you have it. to say GH is better is saying windows 3.0 is hell of a lot better then windows XP.

Rock Band has everything GH has, but much better. If you like GH then you will love rockband and thus dislike GH.

They were both part of the same company, then spilt up. They both worked on Guitar Hero's. So be quiet. The new Guitar Hero - Although not allowed to be called that - will have much better drums (more stuff) better Guitar (As always) and probably better microphone.

I Have GH, GHII, GHIII, And Rockband So I Have Fun With All Of Them. The Only Problem With Rock Band Is That The Drums And Guitar Are Made Out Of Cheap Plastic. You Can Literally Bend The Guitar Neck With Your Thumb And Index Finger.

there are very few songs in GH that will bore me to death but it seems that every other song RB is just repeating the same few notes over and over again.

I completely agree. I think that the only reason why people get defensive against Rock Band is because they either bought Guitar Hero III first hastily and then couldn't buy another large music game, or because, quite frankly, they can't afford it.

That being said, I find the GH controller to be better than the RB controller, not in terms of realism but in terms of comfortability and ease of use. Also, Guitar Hero IV looks pretty great. However, when it comes to these little industry feuds, I feel obligated to side with the developer as opposed to the big scary evil corporation, so I'll have to see what Rock Band 2 has in store for me before I make any decisions for Round 2 of the music game showdown.

Luckily, Harmonix has made it easy for me to prefer them by making Rock Band an incredible game. The first time I played it, I couldn't remember having that much pure fun with a video game in a very long time.

Well, I would say that Guitar Hero probably does the guitar part better, but Rock Band is a much better social game and has all the other parts. If you're purely interested in the guitar, Guitar Hero is probably the way to go. If you consistently have a couple of friends to play with, Rock Band is probably the way to go. Guitar Hero World Tour looks to be an upgraded version of Rock Band, so we'll see if Harmonix does something new that steps it up even more.

In any case, I don't really care about either since I refuse to buy another (I've only bought Guitar Hero). The price and peripherals are just getting ridiculous.

it all depends on what system you have rock band for, i have it for the ps2... and you cant edit a character or anything.. plus you cant do the world tour, but yet on the xbox360 you can.

...I can't believe I read that one of the better things about Rock Band was being able to make a custom character/character selection is greater. Honestly, who plays these games to even do that?

Anyway, I like both of the games, but I like a lot more of the songs on guitar hero games than on Rock Band.

More songs coming (at least on the PSN)
I prefer the guitar and the pre-existing songs.
More fun to play in general.
