What's a good program that I could use to make songs? I know very little about the music world, I have no equipment(and I don't plan on buying any), and I've got a mind of ideas. I'm just going to do video game music, it's something i've always wanted to try.

I've tried PXTone, but I had no idea where to get more sounds.

Well making a thread was a great way to start. I suggest reading and/ or posting in this thread that lists a lot of the good sampling and DAW studios, as well as feedback from users on them.

I will let you know, that if you're not willing to take the time to learn how this software works and you're coming into this idea as something that will be easy, that you turn back now. None of this is as simple as you may believe it is and takes time, practice, and maybe even a little Wiki knowledge on some terms.

Good luck in your searching.

For a loser, if you press At+F4 windows brings up a window where you can download a music making programme. It is what I use to make all my music.

I'm not that bad a loser. I have decent computer knowledge/skills.

Oh, and I forgot to mention I have a computer that runs Windows 2000. Yeah, I know that limits the choices by... A LOT, but few should still be avaliable.

You're way too modest, man.

Given your limited hardware and software, I'm not sure what to suggest. How's your musical ability, instrumental and otherwise? If they're just meh, I can see where you're coming from, but if you've got something, you might want to pump your rig up to par.

...Er.. my musical ability does not exist. At all. Very little knowledge of the music world.
I'm trying FL Studio 8, and at first sight it's pretty hard to figure out what to do, but i'll look around for a tutorial or something

Stick with it. It's what most people here use to begin with.

For a loser....hmm. While I do enjoy making some unique sounds on the Alt+f4 mixer, I would recommend holding down the window button and the f key for about 3 seconds to load up "Windows music maker". Best version is on XP! Happy Music Making!!

Knock it off with the Alt+F4 jokes. If you're going to post, it better be about something helpful. I'm pretty new to this forum, so i'm not aware of it's customs (You know, the "thing" that every person on the forum does, such as the GameSpot forums they use INB4 too many times, and i'm guessing here it's the Alt+F4 jokes or leading newbs astray).

Anyways, FL seems simple enough for me to handle, though the tutorial thread's links don't work. Anyone know where I can find some basic tutorials? I feel as if i'm doing it the wrong way. Also I can't find almost all the instruments/sounds that I want.

WarBeats.com has excellent tutorials for starting out with FL Studio. Nav has one on drums and bass (using sidechaining, I believe), and MusicalTinker shows a couple little things you can do in FL.

And if you have any specific questions about FL Studio, you can ask in this thread.

Well you can use FL Studio, but to make it work properly you would need to delete your kernel32.dll within your system32 folder.

Don't know why FL Studio is so sensitive like that, but I suggest you delete it before you install it, sometimes the registry settings will still carry over, and restart before you install it as well.
