Silver your not even in this collab, and I think if anyone should be making decisions it should be mechanixnut. I thought I did pretty decently on my piece. I think the lastthing we should do is start cutting parts, only do it if it's %100 necassary.

As long as we're all here, if we're doing the best we can for the collab, I'd like to offer my services to help out anyone who wants an opinion on their piece. Just post here or pm me with a link and I'll do the best I can to give an honest review without using, you know, a fire-rod or flame-lantern, etc. :)

dude? have you seen half of the cartoons? THERE WILL BE CUTS! If there wont be, this collab will go down in flames...

seriously I find it annoying that someone who half-assed their part thinks they DESERVE to be included in the parts. Like, if we have everyone this will turn out exactly like the Orange Box collab! And I will not be in a collab like that!

I agree, there will obvouisly be some cuts to very bad parts, but In my opinion mine wasn't terrible! I saw at least 4 that were down right dreadful, and I'm hardly on this thread.

that's exactly what I was saying. But then their are also the others who didn't try who did a shit job, and those who did. We can never tell the difference between the two. The more work you put into something, the more it hurts when you get rejected.

If you don't get in its because you should try harder, until people know that you rock. Im pretty sure I was thinking around 10 parts would make it in.

Everyone is proud of their own work, but to be fair to other people in the collab, only the exceptional parts should be used.

Like when I saw NoperDoperTrooper's part, I nearly shit my pants. I felt like I didn't do everything I could to make my part the best it could be. I've learned over the years in flash that cutting corners is very very noticeable >.> It cheapens the final product and shows that you wont go the extra distance. Everyone has done this, in my first newgrounds submission I cheaped out on backgrounds and whatnot by saying "its good enough" and eventually I got into the habit of saying "Thats the best I can do"

so if you don't get in don't take it as offensive, but rather use it towards making yourself better.

practice and try your best to improve.

you'll prolly get co-author anyways because of the authors page anyway

i agree so much that i couldn't have said it better myself.
originally, when i started in 2004 i was clueless to symbols, tweens, and actionscript.
as time went on i learned about symbols and tweens. never did i use a tween for i though it was used by only the most amateur of flash artists... begining to watch final fantasy flashes i decided to make some..... this is what i came up with. then came 2005 or 2006 (can't remember again....) i tried making a sprite movie. fighting sprite movies have always interested me so naturally when super mario bros Z came out, i was enticed to watch and be inspired. completely clueless to trace bitmap all my sprites were, you guessed it, bitmaps. i made it anyways..... the end result was utter shit
a couple of years pass. many other shit flashes are made but i finally get something into the portal to stay..... with a score of 1.98.....
a couple more years pass and taking a break from making solo flashes, i joined a few collabs.
my first time in a collab i was excited and rushed my part resulting in this ............
yeah......... upon seeing other parts i realized THIS WAS FUCKING SHIT!
so i looked up some of the artists i watched as a... maybe.... 9 year-old kid.
john and richie, legendaryfrog, super-flash-bros, matt rosak, and many more famous flash artists.
realizing my first mistake i found one common attribute to every flash. tweens. yes. the things i though were the most armature thing on flash turned out to be what was behind smooth animation.
lots of other shit happend with animation style and shit but i don't feel like talking about that.

of course i learned about trace bitmap a few years ago but still was kinda sub-par with sprites.
blah blah blah tweens again.
