Thats all well and good, but its got little to do with this site. This is a private website, and the administration can set whatever rules they like. If you find you can't life with those rules, you can go elsewhere, though I'd encourage you to realise that if in fact, they are "just" words, then you can certainly get along without using them. There is no reason that you have to use them, and there are plenty of other words you can use to joke around with. This has always been a rule, so its not like you are losing anything.

What it ultimately comes down to is do we let a minority of users who want to to degrade others have their way, or do we allow the majority of users thrive in a welcoming environment. Feel free to make yourself part of that minority which you've already expressed so much hate for.

Saying that the words shouldn't exist implies that there's no other way to get the message across. I've always thought of most swear words as kind of lazy. You don't feel like giving someone an in-depth explanation of why you hate them, so you say "fuck you" and expect it to carry the same weight. The only reason we should get rid of the words is so people feel more inclined to be more expressive, not because some wimp is dumb enough that they still feel offended whenever they get called a retard.

That isn't really what I said. I meant that people play the race/gender/sexual orientation card entirely too much, and minorities overreact to things massively in order to get their way.
