Is it just me, or did nearly every N64 title turn out to be a great hit and lead to the sequels of every great game we know today?

This is true. It just seemed wonderful because we were young and everything was great back then.

I'd have to agree with you there. The N64 had some of the most memorable games. But what happened to N1-63?

I'd play any N64 game apart from Superman 64.

There are a few flops that are third party games but overall the N64 was easily better then the PS1 and PS2.

I love Mario Paint! THERE! I SAID IT! OKAY!?!?

I remember now that according the the show "Filter" before it became all "new and edgy". They had a top 10 video game console and the N64 was Number 1. Mainly for the great games for it and other stuff. It was missing a metroid though.

It is true that the N64 has some of the best games ever. But I wouldn´t say that it´s the best console ever. Sure, Games like Mario 64, Starfox 64, Super Smash Bros.,Banjo-Kazooie and many more make it to one of the best consoles ever, but not THE best console.

MSN? You want it? It's yours my friend: junger-link@hotmail.de
That's all.

But yeah, the Nintendo 64 rules with all its 1st and 2nd party games.

The only good and memorable N64 games I can think of are Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, Mario 64 and Zelda. Pretty much every other great game series started life on the PlayStation. This Includes hits like Resident Evil, Tekken, Gran Turismo, Ridge Racer, Metal Gear Solid, Need for Speed. You know, stuff like that...

The Nintendo 64. From 1996, to 2001. This is when gaming has evolved to it's max in playability, replayability, and originality.

However, now that I'm experiencing the Wii nearly to its fullest, I'd say that it's now coming very close to being as good as the N64. And this generation is still fairly early.

No, i thought the PS1 as pretty nice. I owned both systems at the same time. Didn't play my N64 nearly as much as my PS1.

Even though it didn't have as many games as the PS1, I thought it had a larger library of fun games. I played it nonstop along with my GBC.

PS1 > N64. By a long shot. Like "I have a dozen times more PS1 games than N64 games" long shot.

And MM > OoT by even a longer shot.

Off of the top of my head I can only think of a handful of series that originated on the N64 and are still alive in this generation through sequels. Smash Bros. would be the first game that comes to mind. Turok is another, although it doesn't stand the test of time well. Perfect Dark and Banjo-Kazooie are the last enduring progeny of the N64 era that I can think of.

It definetly wasn't a failure and, ignoring the last two years of its life, I think it's comparable to the PSone. I just think that calling "nearly every" N64 game a great hit is a little excessive.

Yea...the argument of which consoles of the generations are best is generally pretty difficult to win, unless it's anything versus dreamcast.

Because more people bought it. That's what generally entails "winning" a console war.
