To all those attacking Scientology, can I just ask if any of you have actually read any of the texts (In full) or had an open minded conversation with a Scientologist?
The references given so far in this thread about the religion are taken out of context or are just plain made up! I have been around Scientology for most of my life and I have never once heard of anything relating to Aliens, or these so called "Xenu".
In answer to the whole "It was made by a Science Fiction writer" argument, remember that Jesus was a carpenter! Does that fact undermine all of Christianity? Of course not.
Try looking at the vast amounts of people who have turned to Scientology and call themselves Scientologists for the rest of their lives! These people have obviously found something they were looking for within the religion, perhaps they were very willing to pay for it as well (Just to let you know that if people feel unsatisfied with a service they have received they can get a full refund on it)
Adding to this point on money, I'd ask you to look at the expansion and maintenance of any religion. Whether through taxes or "Collection Plates" each religion made money, which went straight back into the religion to pay for more churches, to feed it's ministers, to print more books etc etc. To call a religion a "corrupt organization" because it asks for money from its people is like calling Jesus selfish when he asked his disciples, to give up their lives to follow him and help other people.
I'm not saying everyone should be a Scientologist, in fact I think its a good thing that people are questioning the systems, but in order to have a valid opinion you should really look into the other side of the story.

No its a carpenter's job to be creative in a different way, to an author. The point I was making was that you could criticize any figure for simply not being perfect.
If you were to have a read of some of the texts relating to Scientology and Dianetics, you would find that most of the information is derived from fact or actual experiment.
Whenever something is unconfirmed or derives from speculation, its stated clearly for the reader. As such none of this said data is seen in the core axioms of Scientology.

we are not aiming at the followers. we are aiming at the scandals the church of scientology has commited. look at this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_S now_White this was an illegal operation to steal and destroy undesirable files about scientology. there is a difference between being brainwashed to pay high fees and a simple collection plate. collection plates are used to keep a SINGLE church in fair condition. the scientology fees are given to the higher ups in the organizations

Let's face it: according to Mormonism, Jesus turned up in the US and found some displaced Israelites...and you're going to stop there, simply because it may as well be entitles The Bible II: Another Gospel.
And that's before any serious digging around tears their theories to shreds...

yeah and they claimed Native Americans are desecendents of the lost tribe of israel and they did a dna scan to back the mormon theory up and the test came up negative and the mormon church still denies validity of the dna test of a native american and Modern day Israelite.

You forget the heiroglyphs they pulled out to prove them right - until people could translate heiroglyphs and revealed it was just a common funeral scroll and nothing like what they were purporting it to read.

and what about their batshit insane founder Joseph Smith who said a angel talked to him and told him dig out 4 golden plates and translate them with sacred rockslike sourced here by the Mormon wiki ( a wiki just for mormons)
And here is the magic rocks and apparently they were used as some sort of Divination
Here is the DNA evidence between Native Americans and Israelites which are sourced and cited

This is how Hubbard must have come up with Scientology. He wanted to get rich, so he got high and started writing down a bunch of random shit he thought about. And tada! Its a fucking religion!

I have had several conversations with former and current Scientologists. Though a number of the people I spoke to who currently practice were rude and borderline threating (get out of my face before you get hurt) I did have some very plesent conversations with them. I've also Scientology material, including Dianetics.
The references given so far in this thread about the religion are taken out of context or are just plain made up! I have been around Scientology for most of my life and I have never once heard of anything relating to Aliens, or these so called "Xenu".
Here's an audio transcript of one of Hubbards lectures about it:

In answer to the whole "It was made by a Science Fiction writer" argument, remember that Jesus was a carpenter! Does that fact undermine all of Christianity? Of course not.
Valid point, although Jesus never said that he's like to start his own religion becasue that's where the money is.
Try looking at the vast amounts of people who have turned to Scientology and call themselves Scientologists for the rest of their lives! These people have obviously found something they were looking for within the religion, perhaps they were very willing to pay for it as well (Just to let you know that if people feel unsatisfied with a service they have received they can get a full refund on it)
But look at the people that were hurt from it. Exscientologykids.com is a good resource for that. And I have not heard of a single instance where they gave a refund.
I can walk into a church and read as much as I like about their faith. I am not required to make a donation. If I want to learn more about Scientology, I must pay for courses. If I want to advance, I must pay for auditing. And I can't just give them what I feel like I can spare, but rather I must pay them the fixed donation price.
I'm not saying everyone should be a Scientologist, in fact I think its a good thing that people are questioning the systems, but in order to have a valid opinion you should really look into the other side of the story.
I tell this to everyone, actually. Check out xenu.net, sure, but also visit Scientology.org. Make your own decision. And thank you for bringing up valid points and having a civil reasonable argument and not just saying "HURR ALL RELIGIONS ARE CULTS JUST BAN THEM ALL"

They did that? Then, why does the pope fit the title of antichrist in the bible? If there truly is an antichrist, then there must have been a christ to begin with.

I have investigated to my best ability The Church Of Scientology sense I have been 12 and I said back then what I will say now:
"Scientology, is a crime".
why?
"Becouse you are worth it"
That usually silenced Scientologists who tried to convince me otherwise. Their activies threaten lifes and try to get away from paying taxes.

I look upon Scientology and see evidence of what atheists during all ages have said: That you can cook up the most fancyful mumbo jumbo you can think of, mix in some personal charisma, bake in the public for a given point of time until you can take it out of the oven as a prime example of a fabricated religion.
Having seen christians, jewish, muslim and other religious people criticising Scientology makes me wonder if they've ever read their own history...
