Wii and DS games

Not to cause any console wars or anything but I am quite disappointed with the games that are out for these two Nintendo games machines.

That's not to say they're all rubbish, there are excellent games for each but you have to dig through a lot of shit to get to the diamonds.

Now and again I check what are the top sellers and what's coming out soon. Needless to say there is a huge amount of Wii and DS games. But the the games are either minigames or games I can play here on Newgrounds.

It's Nintendo who decided to catch the attention to those who don't normally play games which I don't understand. It's a blinding success with the Wii being the top selling console of this generation. Who would of thought developing games for those who don't play games would work. There is some fault at this, take one game that isn't a casual game. No More Heroes, incredible game but it sold much less than it should of. Even Suda51 blamed Nintendo for making the Wii a casual console.

That leaves normal gamers to hardcore gamers without any decent games at all. Looking at
these top sellers for the DS and Scrabble for DS has been there for months at number one. It's only moved down to #2 recently.

I actually only use my Wii to play Punchout now, waiting for a game that isn't casual/minigames/stuff I can do in real life I'm looking at you Wii Fit. I want a game that I can play in any situation, I don't want to call my friends everytime I want to play the Wii.

It's a good console, the DS is a great handheld but trying to reach out to the casual players and having every game use the Wiimote isn't fun.

I did a tally today of the games I counted up that sound interesting for each console. You know, that thread I made.

It came out like this being released-coming soon.

360 51-35
PS3 32-33
Wii 23-10

Now these aren't entirely accurate or anything, but even if you add 10 games to the Wii it still fails miserably for the core gaming market.

Compare that to how many Wii games that are coming out in total, all of them.

Nintendo's released all their big first party games in the first two years, and now they're going to either go one of two ways;

1) Use their well earned money to create next gen titles for some of their less appreciated titles like Pikmin and Starfox

2) Create a bundle more "Wii ___" Games. Joy ¬¬

Don't forget the whole game needs to revolve around the wii's unique controller system - On 360 and ps3, they can quite easily switch between the two consoles - there's not much to change apart from converting Xs into As etc.

I don't have any gripes with the DS, because it does have plenty of non-casual games. However, the Wii's future sounds a bit scary. Now that most of its anticipated titles have come out, there's almost nothing to look forward to yet.

The Wii and DS are actually both great consoles, you just need to know what games to get. It's not like they're the only consoles to have a lot of crappy games on them.

It's really just 3rd party game developers who have no idea how to use Nintendo's "innovations." I own both a Wii and a DS and I rarely play my DS, though recently I have been playing Pearl which is epic by the way.

I agree with you on that one I just hope that they can stay alive for the upcoming years before people slowly realize that only games worth getting are the ones made by Nintendo or the exceptional rd Party games that seem to be undermined by the horrible games made by developers who want to cash in.

I'd say the Wii has a problem, but the DS has tons of good games. Give the Wii time, I was playing Wii Sports the other day and I realised the motion controls are awesome (except tennnis, waggle) soon enough we should see more games like that. And who cares if Alvin and the Chipmunks is the top seller, it's making people buy DSs right?

Hopefully Nintendo announces something great in E3. May a new Starfox game with a demo of sick gameplay. Or F-Zero with sick graphics.
Hopefully, they don't make the new Starfox lame, like the last three.
