I'd rather not stifle creativity right now... we can put a chopping block later when we find we have way too much content. Unless its extremely off.. (like that castle wall with cannons?) then I will generally be okay with it.

I wasn't suggesting stifling anything, but it'd be good if we could get some general level themes so people know what to design. Like asteroid / sky-castle / whatever.

i already went through a general level theme for this level in like one long post some pages back. I think it'll steer people in the right direction once i start knocking out some sprites.. i'll do that later today mayhaps.

I set up an FTP area for Regs to securely upload files to. I am going to distribute this information sometime soon to ya'll but I need to find the best way to do that. Posting it here doesn't seem like the best idea.

This FTP area is different than the other system because the other system handles FTP awkwardly and thus complicates things a bit more.

I want to serve as the filter to make sure everything going to the testing grounds is up to snuff... properly labeled, neat and optimized... so just PM me the ftp info ill upload all the stuff i get to there... good idea on that.. as of right now ive been mailing it gust.

Threw together two basic enemies, after finally getting hold of my wacom for an hour.

One simple "make acrobatic flight - shoot forward - bail" enemy

and

One "drive forward slowly while shooting at player with four turrets" enemy

I made a few enemies as well as some space rocks and a tower that doesnt really do anything but is destroyable.. i think 3 more of the non-shooting enemies and that category is a wrap.

Lets try and stick to a similar color palette.. now that i think about paranoia's comment i think it would make sense if people didnt go in a totally wildly different direction.

Cosmic BLINKING Mullets :P

Poped a lil' flight path too. I like the idea of three space-ship sized mullets kamakizing at you at curved paths from both sides. I absolutely adore the "stress element" in games. If your playin' somethin' and somethin' jumps at you or catches you off gaurd - then you totally kick its ass, you just feel so awesome. ^^

An evil big shooting enemy with a rotating 4 barreled torrent(turrett?). You could either program it to shoot 4 shots in all directions or have him just fire away downward. I'd go with the all direction one. That way the player isn't safe in front, side, and behind. If it ain't safe, that's good motivation to kill the big guy. ^^

there is more colours lol, the blaster thingss, the booster things, the shield thing, and then there is the one gradient :P

This is sort of an unkillable enemy that just drifts onto screen adn then basicaly closes down the players gameing area. It gradulay gets closer and closer, thus making it more tense. Then it just leaves.

You could have 4 create a box around the player which slowly moves around the screen. Or one which splits the level down the middle. Just some ideas.

i managed to do all the level 1 terrain art today. I'll upload it to jtmb's ftp and place a bug report on origo.

its obviously too big to fit into the screenshot but yeah ... i predict this level should be a wrap by the end of next week.
