1) Amateur

2) 3-5 is a good score. Don't get upset by it.

2b) People 0 bomb to piss people off or get their tracks higher. Most of the time, I ignore scores. In the AP (Audio Portal), they don't account for much.

3) Have a look at the tracks scoring best of the week. They are played when you access the AP. See what YOU think are good about them.

4) Make a collaboration. 2 heads (or more) are better than 1.

5) Use various techniques. Make a list of the things you've included and yet to include such as:
*Instrument/s
*Dynamics
*Key changes (where applicable)
*Harmonies
*Mood and Tonality
*Tempo changes (where applicable)

Hope this helps.

Listen to alot of music. Try to solo different instruments in your mind and listen to how the artists uses them, then listen to how all of them work together. Most artists are strongly influenced by other artists.

Then google tutorials on:

- Writing melodies, chord progressions, basslines etc.
- Wave synthesis (if your doing electronic music)
- Professional mixing
- Good mastering techniques.

get the right tempo. Common ones are:

133/135 bpm, 140bpm, 150 bpm, 160 bpm, 180 bpm.

Get the right sound. If you want a soft dance song, Sidechain your bass (Visit Nav or Navij11's page for a tutorial in FL to do so) or if you want a heavier song, just put the bass on the offbeat. Soft = Use Slower Melodies. Harder = Go for Arps

Dont simple use the Kick hat snare hat Beat. Add something behind it. E.g A quiet breakbeat and some extra hats and percussions in.

Master your song. (EQ it, Compress it, make it so all instruments can be heard etc)

Try to do new things in every song. Experiment :]

Well something that has really helped me is the mixer, its pretty boring if your lazy ^^' but always try to route each sound into a mixer channel so that you can see its not to loud or to soft, from there you can adjust the volume, pan, effects and everything you want, but always try to stay below the red bars cause if its to loud it will clip a lot in the song.

I would also recomend you to add a soft clipper on the master channel that would definetly help ^_~

Try sampling and creating a instrument out of your audio captures. For example, get a pan and hit it with a spoon, then get a shoe and hit it with your hand. After recording, compress each file to make the sound softer, perhaps add a little reverb on the pan spoon, and place in a pattern that you think sounds good. Sampling instruments is really fun and creates more ideas.
