I am absolutely sick and tired of people not being able to use proper English on these forums. I don't mind the occasional typo or grammatical error, but there just has to be a line.
In particular, the following mistakes should never be made. I don't know about you, but anytime I start writing these words, I stop and check if I am doing the right. These mistakes are just so cliché, I am shocked to see that anyone could still make them. So without further hesitation:
than / then - The word "than" introduces a comparison, while the word "then" describes correlations in time periods or specific time periods.
to / too / two - The first describes location, direction, or purpose; the second describes agreement, something additional, or excessiveness; while the third describes having a duplicate of one.
its / it's - The earlier is the possessive form of "it"; while the later is the contraction of "it is."
there / their / they're - The first describes location, relation, or existence; the second describes someone or some thing's possession; and the last is a contraction for "they are."
your / you're - The earlier describes belonging to you, while the later is the contraction of "you are."
I hope we have learned from our little lesson here, and you will use this information to help you become a better poster. *Ring ring*. Oh, and before you go, be sure to do exercises three, four, and five on page 367 in your text book. Class dismissed.
