Seriously, why do alot of countries hate America? We give a TON of money to Africa and Afghanistan plus others. In a study, most countries said they dislike America, but in the same study, the same people said they would like to live in America of all countries. Conclusions- either they're jealous or they're just looking for more money. Does anyone else have an opinion?

Meh, it depends. A lot of people hate the fact that many of us americans are know it all shitheads with our heads so far up our asses it's amazing we exist at all.

Then many people want to live here because we have more opportunities to move up in the world and make a place for ourselves.

Then there's people who hate the culture of america, and I have to agree with some parts of it, america is one weirdass place.

I'd like to see that study.

While there are America-bashers, I just think many are mad about Americas foreign policy. When you're in another land, a countrys foreign policy is what is most easily noticed.
And Americas foreign policy is at best controversial, at worst disgusting. At least to people here in Europe, i think. We have a different mindset on what constitutes human rights, even though our leaders don't. To us, places like Gizmo are serious violations of the human rights, as is allowing people in ones own country to starv to death, regardless of cause (that happens in Europe too, but it's seen as an extremely bad thing, while in the US there's a widespread mentality of "if you can't fix your life by yourself, then screw you!").

Personally, I strongly dislike many of the US policies. I don't like the extreme capitalism and I don't like the violations against human rights. I don't like the patridiotists which are so common among americans. I'm disgusted by the "with us or against us"-mentality, and the double standards with UN (for example, first attacking Iraq against the UN's will, and now threatening Iran because they don't comply to the UN's rules).
That said, I dislike many governments, not the least my own (especially right now when conservativs and liberalists are in power) for bad policy on refugees among other things.

You shouldn't believe that you have the right of free thinking, it's a threat to our democracy.

Mostly UK'ers and Muslim, but everyone else hate them and not US. But either way, everyone hates the strong one, it's called JEALOUSY.
That's the reason empires crash, that's the reason people are backstabbed, that's the reason why 6 million Jews died.

It's less countries who hate America than non-american and american people who hate promoted and praised characteristics of the american typus, additonally it's not always hate but contempt (the most significant difference is that hate usually implies a form of equality between the regarding parties) and eventually all that happens because the concerened people are simply expressed raised to stick with different destinations of will and obligation (values). So this is just to assure you that you don't have to cry yourself to sleep as those countries are basically "only humans". That's why if you have problems with this the most satisfying understanding of this matter is probably to be found in the assumption that there is nothing really despicable in anything related to what's to hate about America because despise or hate don't actually have any substance or substrate that can be seen as "justified" not to say objective, all of those affections are developed conincidentially if you see it through a frame wide enough, they are nothing that you have to be concerned of in a way that motivates you to ask such a question. But if you just want to have some examples of why many people don't seem to like America I can suggest you watch american TV I have been to the USA (Florida) once and this experience has outcrazed my wildest imaginations (I'm not exaggerating TV and especially your TV is what fucks you up most!).

America gets a bad rap simply because we've always played to win, and as the shit is calming down in Europe, with socialist-liberals starting to take positions in gov. and new policies that America clearly doesn't have start getting passed, well the people there (Europe) look at their way of life as standard and anything else barbaric, while really I love America, I love how my country has so many opportunities, I love how my country has so many cultures, I love how my country has so many different things rather than Europe which is slowly melding into a socialist confederacy.
The rest of the world doesn't hate America, the Muslims do alright because to them the west is evil and needs to be destroyed (not all Muslims mind you), the Chinese hate America because thats what they've been taught to do, as have the N. Koreans. The world is primarily annoyed with America, but when a new leader gets into office and straightens shit out the world will forgive and forget and get off their asses and deal with certain problems we all face.

Heh.

Keep in mind that when talking about Swedish politics, the label "conservative" doesn't say much in terms of American politics, considering that our "right wing" is even further to the left than America's left wing is. Unless you're willing to count the Christian Democrats as being "in power", but that's hardly the case. They can consider themselves lucky if they manage to avoid being kicked out alltogether come next election.

I got a big kick out of it when I heard that our "right-wing" Prime Minister was endorsing Barack Obama, the supposedly most left-leaning candidate left in the race, for president.

I guess the reason alot of people want to move to America is because of The American Dream, which is pretty much true (to a certain extent).

One of the main reasons America is hated is because of the idiot you elected for president. He really is a burden, and you're lucky an election is coming up. I jsut hope you don't elect John McCain.

I wonder how many of the people asked had actually lived in the States though? A few years back I really wanted to live in the States, it seemed like an exciting place to live with plenty of opportunities. I then went and lived there for a year, and I can assure you I never ever want to do so again. To me it was like a weird alien world that was cool for a few weeks, and then began to really really annoy me. And it isn't just me, other people I know who have moved to the States have said exactly the same and moved straight back.

One of the main reasons America is hated is because of the idiot you elected for president. He really is a burden, and you're lucky an election is coming up. I jsut hope you don't elect John McCain.

That certainly doesn't help, as does the foreign policy of 'go blow up the next nation on our list', especially with all the oil conspiracies etc. They just come across as a big bully sometimes. Another study I saw asked people from around the world who they saw as the biggest threat to world peace. The Americans spouted out the typical 'China', 'Korea', 'Iraq' stuff... the rest of the world pretty much agreed on the USA.

There are also a lot of Americans that people really dislike (inevitably those that are in the press the most). The Britney Spears, Paris Hilton types that even most Americans hate, but yet they still get rich in the land of opportunity for being generally repulsive people, and are the ones that swamp our press most of the time. When you realise the Americans that most people outside of the States actually see (the spoiled celebrities, the massively obese that take up so many documentary hours, the moronic politician(s) etc) it is little wonder people don't like the place.

That isn't to say that everything is bad, far from it, but the US is one place that everyone sees all of the time and a lot of what comes out isn't too popular.

Anti- Americanism is just another example of hate and ignorance. You see, those with less thought tend to hate our great republic because they seem to be victims of radical propaganda.

as to the question why do other countries hate america i'll tell you why the whole islamic religion is conservative and is under control by their religion that isn't wrong jus different. We also have a lot of opportunities here in the usa so i figure that jealousy obviously plays into it as well. Yeah you have your rather common case of redneck racist dickweed but that goes with everything and everyone. In europe there are assholes in china there are assholes this goes on and on that is life. Communistic nations are that for a reason they are newly developing and need the central control for more efficient use of resources. But i am pissed off because people point a finger at us and say we attack helpless nations, tell me are any of you in war do you know how it happens if you are then all respects to you that is one hell of a commitment and a sign you care about your nation. That being said if you have not experienced getting planes launched into your world trade center towers then don't criticize us because we attack these "helpless" developing nations. If by helpless you mean a woman pushing a stroller with a 155mm artillery shell then by all means they are helpless but don't criticize because we defend our freedoms and our people.

Many people hate America because of most Americans. The said "most" Americans just ride the wave that the good Americans make. Those "most" Americans act like they own the world while their countrymen acts for the world.

Because your media told you to hate him?

Apparently you do. The world needs the US to babysit them. Look at WWI. A bunch of white people were pissed off at each other's differences and America had to come in to give them all a time out. Then they needed even more babysitting when they started more fuss over differences between white people during WWII. Once again, America put them on time out. Now you're saying we don't have to go to war for everything when you obviously need our babysitting?

Tolerance comes with tolerance of the intolerant. True tolerance doesn't exist.

We hate you because you're an intervening imperialist power.

I would like to think most people can differentiate between America and Americans. But who knows. I love Americans, and I think your country is pretty swell too, but I think the media is a little too anti-American-people here.

We don't go to war for everything. America goes through diplomatic channels to solve problems all the time - it's just that that part doesn't make the news as often as when we have to put a boot in someone's ass to get the point across, primarily because it happens to be a really big boot that does a lot of damage.

Even if the victor of the war is "hated," he still comes out ahead because he now wields the power that came with his victory.

When all is said and done, power is the only thing that has any real value.

That argument sounds insane. Please explain why power has any value, and how you've incorporated this philosophy into your life. Do you rule over others with something that gives you "power?"

Because America is seen as an obese, uneducated, capitalising warmongering country that wants to police the world.

Not my views on it, but generally what the English media makes it out to be.

Oh, if anything I LOVE America, I wear my I <3 America cap three times a day before lunch, and two after. I Love it so much specifically I HATE the things that make IT look bad. Understood?

Like conservatives.

America is awesome, in fact, like a perfect compass, the parts that conservatives hate are even more awesome. Aka, New York, San Fransisco (Silicon Valley), California, or perhaps the "academia" which is another word for the forefront of American Science & Research (eg, the multi-patent making per year MIT). Hell even cities like Huston, by sheer coincidence also associated with other stuff cool American stuff like NASA, right within red states happen to be "blue". From some time it starts not to be a coincidence you know...

So yes. I Love America. Conservatives don't, but I am not going to do them the favor of saying that I don't like America, instead, I plain don't concider Them Americans instead. True Americans don't do "homeland security" government bend overing crap, or fear capitalism from immigrant (give me your poor etc rings any bells?) workers ready to sell their ability to the higher bidder.

::As opposed to what? Living together in "peace", "tolerance", "equality, "harmony", and any other pipe-dream I am failing to mention?::

No, as opposed to me, blowing you up as leave your house.
And don't think suicide bomber btw, I wouldn't suicide if my life depented on it as George Carlin says, sniper, rocket, mine, RC bomb, RC helicopter or airplane with bomb, catapult loaded with high pressure napalm canisters, you name it. (And of cource the old favorite, delivering a pizza as you hold a gun under the box. Like hell you would ever react, and you will literally stand in front of me)

It would be sudden, it would be based on the element of suprise, and it wouldn't be "manly". That's the world you conservatives want to create and ironically, you don't even have the teeth for it. For example how you would protect yourself from anything I mentioned? Remember, I don't care at all about honor and crap. *You* seeing *me* is never going to be a tactical requirement. As to why, oh, money of cource. If I have the power and if I have the technical ability, why shouldn't I?

Or

We can just all go along, and do Capitalism & Science, as opposed to thinking like a degenerate barbarian and archieving about the same. Valueing Ability and Creativity instead of "Pwr".

Some people have gotten tired of living well in the 20th century it seems and start to romantise suffering and death.

Why do people hate America? Erm... they started 2 illegal wars, have bankrupted and stolen the resources of tons of countries, militarise their way into getting what they want and have a fucking retard President as the Commander in Chief. It ain't that fucking hard to figure out.

They also consume 25% of the world's resources and imprison more people than any other country in the world, as well as sanction torture in Guantanamo Bay.

The US is the world's leading terrorist nation.
