Mac commercials are so dumb, and saying vista is glichy! Well, I have been using vista for almost a year now and I haven't have anything seriously glichy happen. Why do people think vista is so bad!? Most people own PC because they are most widely used, and macs are not worth the price they are charging. Remember macs are the ones who thought people would like using a mouse with one button!

I just like the fact that Macfags boast about being able to use Windows on their Macs.

You aren't glitching, but A LOT of people are, hence macs targeting those people who are much more likely to switch over. It's a sound business strategy and I don't know why you care so much.

Vista does suck in comparison to XP. Macs do bullshit in their commercials though.
I absolutely hate the one where he PC is going to get upgraded and they make a big deal out of it saying to upgrade the OS he needs serious hardware upgrades.
1) No it doesn't need hardware updates.
2) To upgrade a Mac you need to buy a new one.

well if your computer was built in 2001 then I think it is time to buy a new one that can handle vista! Apple users have to buy new computers too!

Wrong. I've owned XP, Vista, and the MAC OS X tiger and leopard. Tiger is the most stable OS I've ever used. I'm using it now in fact.

I absolutely hate the one where he PC is going to get upgraded and they make a big deal out of it saying to upgrade the OS he needs serious hardware upgrades.

It's completely true. How often are PC's upgraded for SOFTWARE like VIDEO GAMES. Almost all the damn time. Hell, you need a hardware upgrade to RUN Vista. That is to say if you're using less than 1 gig of ram.

1) No it doesn't need hardware updates.

Yes it does.

2) To upgrade a Mac you need to buy a new one.

No, not really.

I don't doubt that. What I said was that XP was better than Vista. That's just my opinion though.

You don't need upgrades to run Vista. It runs fine on my mate's piece of shit laptop he bought like 3 years ago.

I have seen computers with Vista Capable stickers on them fuck up all the time. These are the ones a lot of people are buying and having problems with and it's got a bad name because the standards for a Vista sticker are too low.

I don't doubt that. What I said was that XP was better than Vista. That's just my opinion though.

It is true that XP is far more stable than vista as of now, in a few years vista will be just as stable, however I'm saying that MAC OS X is better than both in terms of: Stability, Elegance, Seamlessness, hardware compatibility, hardware utilization, ease of use, and most importantly the price of the OS itself.

It's completely true. How often are PC's upgraded for SOFTWARE like VIDEO GAMES. Almost all the damn time. Hell, you need a hardware upgrade to RUN Vista. That is to say if you're using less than 1 gig of ram.
Video games are not an OS though and I'm pretty sure that ad was talking a new operating system, I could be wrong though.

Of course they're not an operating system, however they are software. As such, a lot of the time the HARDWARE of a PC must be upgraded for SOFTWARE. It's a natural process. However, Macs rarely need to be upgraded.

Your thread is full of them, and whoring it out is a stupid idea when you openly admit you don't know shit about computer hardware. In defending it, you make arguments such as "Macs aren't expensive because you can sell them back for a better price" which is completely irrelevant to its cost of ownership. You also rely on posting a volume of articles written by Mac partisan bloggers, all of which collectively spout the same drivel. Good thing nobody actually reads all of those, huh?

Also, a link to a store that sells horribly overpriced Mac hardware isn't proof for anything. A lot of Mac machines simply cannot accept certain upgrades and it's not really up for dispute. Have fun letting Apple milk you for money.

Maybe that's the way you look at it, but for someone used to the latest version of Tiger (Leopard is very new, so most bugs wont be fixed for a while) Vista would be a mess.

Why do people think vista is so bad!?

Because XP is better and even than it still sucks when compared to OSX.

Most people own PC because they are most widely used

Correction: Most people own PC's because they are cheaper. Also, pretty much all major software companies have a Mac version or there's a better alternative that usually comes with the Mac and is exclusive to it. So Macs have as much software opportunity, excluding games.

and macs are not worth the price they are charging.

Considering the software, I'd have to disagree. Sure, you may have a desktop that is more powerful than an iMac. But what good is that hardware going to do you when the software is buggy, susceptible to attack, and does not work very well in conjunction with the hardware?

Think of having two bulldozers and they need to move a lot of earth. The first one is very large and powerful, however the driver is inexperienced, reckless, and generally incompetent. The second bulldozer is only medium in size and has less horse power, but the driver is experienced, diligent, and has a knack for operating his machine. The operator of the first bulldozer is much more likely to make an error in the work or simply destroy his machine due to his recklessness and thus, take an unnecessary amount of time to do the job. While the one using the less powerful bulldozer will just get the task done faster because he had the talent to operate the hardware and make the best of it.

Remember macs are the ones who thought people would like using a mouse with one button!

So you're suggesting the actual computers themselves thought of this?! Amusing errors aside, does this really matter? Sure, if you came straight from operating a PC for a good deal of time, it could take some getting used to. However, in the end you come to get used to holding the button down for a second or using the above tool bar. The only reason Apple did the two button mouse thing was because they wanted to get PC users (who are discontent with their current machines) to Apple products. Does this mean any method is better though? No.

At 5/15/08 11:38 PM, Zen444 wrote: I just like the fact that Macfags boast about being able to use Windows on their Macs.

PC users often boast the sheer power of PC's and how Macs pale in comparison. However, PC's cannot run OSX natively and the emulation is extremely slow. Ironically, mac users can run Windows perfectly. Besides, Apple want people switching from Windows to feel more welcome to the computer and thus they allowed for those people to stretch to their PC roots if needed

Also, I love how you refer to people who simply use the computer as "Macfags". If you must resort to calling anyone who uses the computer you detest so much a homosexual, please don't bother to engage in any argument seeing as you only have insults to strengthen it.

What the fuck are you talking about? Mac is UNIX based OS which barely uses any RAM. I can go out and buy Leopard right now and not need to upgrade my hardware. That being said, I could go out and buy vista and have problems installing it on my PC downstairs, THATS ALREADY BEEN UPGRADED.

That is because Apple makes both the computers that run the software and the software itself. Therefore when you but a Mac you get all the software bundled with it and there are no compatibility issues. With Windows-based system there are countless 3rd party hardware and software manufacturers hence you sometimes need to upgrade your system to suit the software requirements. These days however, if you order a prebuilt computer, most of the time you get a bigger bang for your buck, unless you get an Alienware system.

That almost always happens only in terms of games though. If Macs were to run Crysis they'd need an upgrade too.

Which is why it's better to buy a Mac IMO. Also, if you look into it, Macs are pretty competitive in the pricing department.

Why is that PC Users ALWAYS jump on the "LOL GAMES" point on a MAC vs PC discussion. Is that all you use your computer for? Games? What are you? Fucking 12 years old?

Aside from that, if you're into playing games that much, then just buy a fucking Mac Pro and You'll have enough of everything.
