I'm not trying to animate a character to say "thanks" when I type thx, I wna the action to be
ME: Hey
*picture of me with hand raised*
ME: What's up?
*picture of me shrugging my shroulders*
Friend: dude... wtf is wit you icon?
ME: haha what are you talking about
*pic of me laughing*
Friend: that's actually kinda cool
ME: hey thx
*pic of me with thumbs up*
Friend: k now this is getting annoying
ME: haha
*laughing pic*
Friend: okay that's enough
ME: k
*pic of me with agreeable face*
Friend: k stfu already its stupid its a bad idea
ME: haha
*laughing pic*
Friend: k wtf I'm blocking you
ME: NO!
*pic of outraged me*
Friend: later
End Convo
So what do you guys think, have any of you tried this before. It seems simple enough but I feel like I would be trampling on something AIM doesn't want me messing with. Can I do it?
I don't see why yo could not do it. But this does not belong in this forum. Try taking it to general.

Why wouldn't it belong in this forum?
It doesn't have anything to do with programming?

True, I don't see this guy having to program anything to get what we wants done. He would not have to recode AIM or anything. Plus emoicons are freely distributed for IM services. All he would have to do is insert his custom one into the text box provided. Unless he was creating a program that does this for him, the thread does not belong.

Or you guys could stop acting as though I know I wouldn't have code anything. I posted this here to see if this would require some sort of coding and if it did maybe someone would be able to lead me somewhere that could help me do this. If this fits in the "such an easy programming thing that it's like video embedding" just say so. As far as my experience goes on AIM I have never seen an AIM avatar that changes to various uploaded pictures because of the text that is written. Sry for any misunderstandings.

Hold on there Charlotte, it wouldn't change depending on what was written, you would merely upload a bunch of custom avatars/emoticons and then add them in yourself depending on what you typed. There's no need to make it so complicated as to want to run a script to add a picture in depending on what was written.
Also remember that computers are stupid. They must have very exact instructions on what to do and when to do them. So in order to have it pop up automatically you would (to the best of my knowledge) have to type exact text into AIM to have it match the script. Seeing as tho you are fairly noobish to programming, coding something like this is far beyond what you know.

It sounds like a cool idea, actually.
