and anyways, I've heard about it, and its definitely a big deal. With as major a trading partner as China is to the world, I wouldn't be suprised to see quite a bit of relief effort.

I have family in Sicily, and some of them live near the Mt Etna. When it errupted nobody gave a shit. Not even them.

The big problems are also somewhat because the buildings are not stable or up to code so they collapsed instantly and killed everyone inside. (I hope that's what this topic is about but I can't really tell)
