Are there any reasonable ways i can cool my 360 down whilst im on it for a long period of time? My last Xbox overheated once and in the end resulted in the RROD (apparently my gfx card or something melted) I need some good ways to make sure my new Xbox stays nice and cool without having to go out and buy a fan for it like people have told me to.

Any ideas? Someone said wrap it in a cold damp towel but that seems silly, anyone tried this?

Buy a fan that is your noly option.

Either that or go outside and hang with your friends for a while.

The guy who to but your Xbox in a wet towel should never even own an Xbox.

We're talking a damp towel here, not a dripping wet one. /sigh
I think it might work.

Water on electronics is just nonsensical. The fans can do more harm than good, so don't do that.

The only real way to prevent overheating is to keep it in a well ventilated area and make sure to turn it off every 5 hours or so of heavy gameplay for 30 minutes to cool off the hardware. Besides that, there's truly nothing.

Another option is to open your 360 and install a custom water cooling unit, that is, if you want to go about and void your warranty.

Mines never overheated, it was a launch one and I left it on for 29 hours straight once for Oblivion.

It never broke till I accidentally dropped it moving things. Bought a new one and put it back in the box for my money back. :D

360 - Malachi117. Fucking add me.

Chuck it in the shower should do the trick.

Hey, at least it would be an improvement.

Tell your Xbox to say "Serenity Now" over and over again until it cools down. That should work.

Buy a mini fridge, stick it in there and use your wireless controllers.

I was SardonicSamurai's first ban. Okay? Okay.

Lay it horizontally, and then prop it up with a small box or block of wood. This way, all your air vents will be uncovered.

Wrapping it in a towel is just silly, it'll suffocate the console making it overheat faster.

Just make sure it's horizontal and that it has a lot of space to ventilate.

Haha, can you imagine. It sounds like a brilliant idea, too.
My xbox is already laying Horizontally with a nice open space, i guess my only option is to stop leaving it on for a long time. :(

I wouldn't be surprised if some idiot has already tried it. But who knows, maybe it worked for him.

What about the wires for the Xbox itself?

Drill holes in the fridge itself. This provides room for the wires and ventilation of air. The hell I know it was an unserious answer but I suppose one could make it work.
