People on the internet are assholes, that's basically it. They find some sort of bizzare enjoyment making fun and jokes and some kid who got ran over by a train. It's quite sad really what the world has come to, or at least, a large internet community.

I know you didn't know him, but I'm sorry for the loss, not necessarily a loss for you. But more of a loss to his parents and other friends he looked like he was a nice, enthusiastic kid and might have had a real future.

That's the sad thing about the internet. There is no sympathy to be found here. The internet is an unforgiving, cruel, and unsympathetic son of a bitch. But in this case, it's expectable, really, because think about it: Connor may be known in your school, but not every single living person in the world knows him personally so naturally, there is little to no sympathy among complete strangers on the internet. If this was a celebrity that everyone knew and loved, that would be a different story and no one would joke about it. Example: Dimebag Darrell: one of the greatest metal guitarists of all time; got shot by some lunatic while performing. Look up the Youtube videos that relate to his death and read the comments. Notice lack of jokes. To most people, Connor is just some kid so they start making jokes about his death. Though I understand why there's no sympathy, it still sickens me to know that people can be this mean and heartless.

People need to stop treating death as if it was sacred. Yes, someone died, but people die every damn day. It's not special. When people die from doing something exceedingly dumb, then it is special, and we all have a big laugh about it and are thankful that we're not foolish enough to do that. Think of me what you will, but if you've ever laughed at one of the "Darwin awards", then you're no better than I.

You got a good point, but if put in the same situation , I'd imagine you'd want sympathy to help deal with loss.
