Okay I have this game that I made and I have a sponsor who is interested in it. He wants exclusive sponsorship, but im free to distribute it anywhere I want. I have full rights and everything but his logo is the only one allowed to be in it. I put about 2 to 3 months of work into it. I did all the graphics and animations. I designed over 30 different rooms, and I wrote the story. So my question is how much should I expect for something like that. The graphics are really good and the gameplay is above average. So anyone got any ideas?

I've never been sponsored, for anything, but I thought it was a money for views system.

PM me for a sig like this. Do not, under any circumstances, click this sig. DO. NOT. CLICK. SIG. Clear? Better be.

He asked me if I had an estimated price range for an exclusice sponsorship. I think its different from site to site.

Wait, let me get this straight.

He wants you to put his logo and ONLY his logo?

Or you can put your logo in also?

I can put in my logo, but he is the only one allowed to sponsor it. And my name is in the credits still and I still have full ownership of the game.

Well if the game is as good as you say, maybe he can give you a great deal.

Thats what I think.

I'm like wolfear, I don't know that much about sponsorship.

This site has a lot of information you can reference from. You could ask experienced developers to give you an idea of the sponsorship price they think you should receive, which I guess you're doing here...or you could send the game out to multiple sponsors asking for quotes and possible offers, then compare them and you'd get a pretty good idea of what it's worth.

The best answer when a sponsor ask for your price is something along these lines:

"I don't know what the game is worth. I've send the game to several portals, including yours and I'm hoping to get some offers."

After that the sponsor usually gives you some sort of offer. Then you can decide yourself if price is fair considering the game quality and the time you've put into it. But try to look at your game objectively, if you can.

Look at the website Coaly posted, and shop the game around a bit. Post a site locked/protected copy on the net and send some emails to different portals asking if they'd like to bid on it. Don't be afraid to ask for more money, if a portal gives you a hard time about it they aren't reliable; when you're dealing with money, it's always best to be businesslike and try to get yourself the best deal. Your game sounds like it's pretty big, so you could get a very decent amount for it. I've had games sponsored from $500 - $5000; it's really about how much traffic it'll bring in for the sponsor. If it's going to be popular and spread to a lot of sites, then it's worth more.

The deal you described in the OP sounds legit, though. Most sponsorship involves adding the sponsor's branding and a few links into the game. It's important to keep the copyright on the game so you can make sequels and reuse code.

Yeah I put in a 2,000 dollar offer and he said that it was a fair price. Im pretty excited considering it was my first game. I didnt dream I would get that much I kind of expected a counter offer. But he took it. I should have asked for more, but it's to late now.
But I have heard of games going for 10,000 before. I dont if that is common though.

As common as winning in the lottery. Though there is a winner in lottery nearly every week..... :)
