I think everyone's forgotten that once, long, long ago, Newgrounds wasn't shit. In fact, at one point, it didn't even exist.

I also think that we've neglected our mod team more than a lot. We harsh and rag and harsh some more, and assume that they deserve it (because they had a problem with us being mindless fucking gayfag cunthole douchebags with NOTHING to contribute but +1s) while failing to realize that the REAL responsibility is on US to make changes. We shouldn't have to be told to steer away from +1 posts, from memes so dead hell forgot about them and from flaming people for expressing their HONEST FUCKING OPINION. WE SHOULD JUST DO SO.

I, for one, support the mods. I support their Gestapo of justice and were I able, I'd join the ultimately futile, yet nonetheless necessary crusade to regain the holy land.

Go mods! Throw parties and hate the rest of us, it's your inherent duty!

It has its ups and downs, but I don't regret the decision to join the mod team.

Being a mod isn't "great," for all the reasons already explained by many others. But its not horrible and someone has to do it.

As for this whole mods looking down thing. I know I don't, personally, look down. It may come off that way sometimes, but I don't. There is this sudden weight though, that as soon as you are a mod how you post and what you say is limited. You have to worry about what others are doing, so even if as a reg something didn't bother you, as a mod you might catch it anyway.

I'm confident anything I've done as a mod for my first week was pretty much spot on, but already I've had complaints. The rules are fairy clear. Most of us have some means of communication open to report abuse we missed (we can't read everything). And, any of us would be willing to have a good time with regulars and just chill and talk if we could do it with out constantly getting dumped on for being strict or not strict enough. I feel like the distance is created from both ends, but I still see myself as just a normal regular, who happens to be unable to change his aura.

- Having non-modded users constantly suck your cock, just because you're a mod. You are no longer assessed on the value of your posts and your independent contribution.

That one sucks (no pun intended). It gets really awkward at times.

- Having non-modded users abuse you, again, just because you're a mod. "Wow, look at me- I'm defying authority! Man, I'm cool!"

That one sucks as well. :|

In short, it is a balancing exercise. I don't think I have heard of any person who has refused the mod position when it has been offered to them (apart from those who have stepped down voluntarily).

Of course - there's always the initial allure, then it wears off. haha

Nonetheless, if any of you guys are asked to become a mod in the future, I would advise you to weigh up these factors very carefully.

There's several different forums for mods. The BBS ones get a special one that only BBS mods can access, and that's where all the fun happens.

Back when I was a mod, there were two separate mod forums. One for BBS mods (id=9?), and one for general mods (id=11?). OK, I can't remember the actual id numbers very well. It's been a long time for me. But you're saying you guys don't have the second forum anymore?

Only BBS mods can access the BBS forum. The Lounge is haunted by mainly the audio mods - the icon mods are never around and the BBS mods stay in their forum. :P
