Not sure if this has been posted yet, but I tried searching and couldn't find anything.
Police brutality caught on tape.
The story goes that there were four suspects who did a "triple shooting", one of them fled on foot while the three others drove off in the vehicle. I haven't found anything specifying if anyone got killed, or even shot. To be honest I don't know what the fuck a "triple shooting" is. I assume it's that they opened fire three times, because if it were shooting three different people, I think the articles I've read would have mentioned that.
I've heard about cops being shot in Philly lately and that they are trying to crack down hard on criminals, but come on, is this beating in any way justifiable? I was discussing this at another forum where the majority of the people thought what the cops did was acceptable. Am I the only one who disagrees? Am I the odd person out for thinking that an act of obvious fascism is OK? I mean, this is how they treat criminals in Cuba, aren't we supposed to be more dignified than that?
I wanted some of my NG folk to shed some light on this with their opinions. Personally, I think what the cops did was a disgusting act of violence and that they don't deserve any second chances. What this video shows is a group of thugs wearing white and blue, releasing their frustrations out on defenseless human beings. I would rather have no protection than have protection in the form of that.
I've been refurbished and reissued, prepackaged and precooked, decontaminated and deloused, but I still smell, sound, look and feel like shit.

Just to play Devil's advocate...
These people were involved in a shooting. They shot people. It seems kicking is less harsh than a bullet.
Also, you will not get beat by the police, if you don't commit violent crimes. Violence begets violence. Don't expect to be treated nice, if you are running around shooting people.

Agreed. If you shoot at the cops, expect them to treat you as if you're going to shoot at them again if they don't incapacitate you in time. Having seen the video and heard what the criminal had done, I would have done the same thing if I was in the police's shoes.

Well I guess that shows a lot about your character if you're the type of person who would kick and stomp a guy who is handcuffed on the ground and completely detained.
They didn't shoot at the cops, by the way, the article mentions nothing of the sort. It just says they were involved in a shooting, but it makes no mention of where they shot at, and if anyone was injured or killed it would have said so. Also, the fourth suspect is the one they believe did the shooting, and he escaped on foot, and since they found no weapons in the car you have to assume the fourth suspect had them.
I believe the cops should have treated the suspects as thought they were armed, and used force to get them out and detain them. But, once they are handcuffed and unable to fight back, why is it necessary for a mob of people to stomp, kick and punch them? What justifiable reason is there to beat up a guy who isn't a threat anymore? There is none. The police were frustrated and took out their aggressions on these guys once they became defenseless.
Maybe they are all divorced and can't go home to beat their wives, so they figured this was a good opportunity to vent.

Certain people should not be put in a position of authority, but as long as the governments offer a dogshit wage to risk you life sometimes, then your going to get some people join the police force that have chips on their shoulders. And most governments rationale would be we can't get too selective of who joins police force because we may not get enough manpower.

It should be noted that despite officers insisting they saw these men shoot someone moments before they found no weapons in the vehicle or on them.

Maybe if it was a parking violation, I would be angry.
However, I do not pity these men at all for being beaten over killing people.

I find the logic of their defence remarkably illogical - "A couple of cops got shot, so that makes it OK for us to drag random people out of their cars and give them a shoeing." Errm...how?!? Where does it state, in any legal document, that the police have the right to execute Eye For An Eye at random intervals if a certain number of them are killed in the line of duty?
It's not the fiurst time I've heard this - when the Metropolitan Police were in the (proverbial) firing line after the Menezes incident, they did come up with "One officer was shot and killed in Bradford." So, a member of a different constabulary being killed in the line of duty makes it OK to empty a clip of a semi-automatic pistol into an innocent man's head, and repeatedly lie to cover up what they did (which, obviously, didn't work).
Does this mean ordinary people can take this approach in their everyday lives? Does this mean if someone dinks your car in a parking lot for the third time this year, it's perfectly OK to take a sledgehammer to their windscreen?
As for saying criminals have no rights, had any of those being booted actually been charged or convicted for any crime at the time? If not, they aren't criminals - they're suspects.

I would be disgusted if someone dinked my car.

And raping someone vaginally is less harsh then raping them anally, why is vaginal rape illegal?

SIGH.
It's surprising how many people have somehow assumed that the suspects in this video killed someone. Besides the article I've posted, I've searched other ones related to this incident and haven't found a single one that states they injured or killed anyone, or even shot at a person. For all we know they shot a gun into the air and drove off. It doesn't even state why they shot a gun in the first place. Were they robbing a store? I doubt it, it would have said so.
If I were to guess they simply had a feud with another group of people and shot a gun into the air to scare them, and tried escaping. If somebody had been shot the article would have specified. How many times have you watched the news and they reported a story where somebody was injured or killed, but they left that part out? Fucking never. The news talks about death and injury whenever the chance arises, so if these people had actually shot another person it would have been mentioned.

True, but Police are human beings, and the adrenaline kicks in when they're 'restraining' someone they can get carried away.

The adrenaline was higher for me and the outside linebacker on my team as we both tackles the other teams fullback an inch from the goal line, with 2 seconds left and no time outs on the other team, securing our lead of 1 point and qualifying the team for the state conferences.
But we still didn't kick the shit out of the dude after the play was over.

Normally I wouldn't. I don't typically resort to violence for any reason, and actually I had to swear off the use force except as a defensive measure when I got my black belt. I'm just saying that, given the circumstances as they were presented, I would assume that those particular suspects were armed and act accordingly. Granted, the cops did go a little overboard, but can you really blame them given the recent spate of cop killings in Philli?

Yes I can. They are supposed to serve and protect, and going a "little" overboard is never acceptable when you are abusing your power.
It's sad that cops have been murdered in the line of duty, but that doesn't make what they did OK. If your friends got murdered and you lashed out on some random person and kicked his ass, you would be arrested and criminally charged. People may sympathize with your position, but nobody would let you slide because of it. Why should the situation with the cops be any different?
