I know that in single player it wont just be 4-6 locusts anymore it could be up to hundreds. So I can the possibility of having 30 on 30 multiplayer. I don't know if GoW is meant to be a massive team shooter though, we'll see how they work it.
They could do it tactical still. It would almost be a tournament type thing. I'll brainstorm real quick here:
Both the teams start in the middle, with about 500ft between them. They have to get to the middle and begin to struggle for the center. Each time you die, you're put in a queue and will respawn when either your team gains the territory or loses it. It would basically just be a huge struggle for the center, sort of like the mode in World in Conflict in the wastelands.
Another option, which would be less linear, would be to have most maps shaped in a circular shape. Each team starts off with half, and half the team starts on on their points directly in the center. They then have to try to capture the entire circle. Once the entire circle is captured, the center then has a 30 second timer put onto it and the losing team has to go in the center, the goal now is to stop the other team from getting to the center. If the losing team fails, the other team gets a full win, if they succeed, both teams get a "half win" or draw, but draw is such a nasty word. The respawn rules apply from the other mode I mentioned, and you can only capture two points at a time.
And you could just have amazing tactical deathmatch battles on huge maps.
Here's a picture of what the circle mode would be like.
