Hello people

Recently I have finished a game where I have used lyrics of worldwide popular songs of Police, Queen, Phil Collins and the Beatles. But I was thinking that it would be cool to have a slightly different version of this game using lyrics and its melodies of the great musicians of Newgrounds community.

The idea would be to replace the current 9 main lyrics by Newgrounds' musicians lyrics and it would be great to play a reduced-size-version of the song as background music.

I would like to be a game only Newgrounds exclusive, and if there is any Newgrounds price the money would be divided between all the musicians because you would be responsible with your letters of the fun of the game.

Ah, sorry, I almost forgot, the link to the game.

Play Poetry

I hope you enjoy.

Bye.

That's a great idea. I played that one recently and enjoyed it very much. I somehow managed to do poorly at it, but I enjoyed it all the same. I have only one song with lyrics posted here, but I have some others I'm happy to donate to the game, which you can hear here. If you find one you like, let me know what file size you need and where to send it along with the lyrics.

Hey, thanks for the reply guys, I've been listening your songs ("Bored to Death","I Want You","We Can Life Forever") from SMA and ("Waves of Yesterday", "O'Riley's Nook", "For Cali") from RubberBandMethod and they are great. Yes, they are totally different styles but with both I have enjoyed playing with them. I've been working in the game to work with Newgrounds songs, here I provide you the link:

http://www.freecreationgames.net/alphade mo/Poetry.html

If you press the title of the song it will appear a new browser to your page in Newgrounds. Also I will need the lyrics because I'm quite useless to identify the letters, I'm not english native, sorry.

Finally, it would be cool that more musicians can join to participate in this weird experiment.

Lyrics have been sent. : )

I enjoyed RBM's Waves of Yesterday. It's a very relaxing, almost hypnotic song. I like music I can fall into.

I hope other audio artists decide to participate. It's an interesting and fun concept for a game, and a good way for you to be heard. I've seen several threads lately bemoaning the state of the audio portal, but here is a flash artist who both respects what you do and who wants to promote you, so help him out.

Thanks for the lyrics. Now you can enjoy with them in this new link:

Play Demo Lyrics

SMA, I strongly recommend to play on the easy level, the difficulty of the game increases when there are a lot of words, but this time I suppose that you will do all the complete song.

The good thing about the game is since the lyrics are in my server not inside the game code, so new songs can be added in the future without any problem. The artist only have to provide me the URL to their songs in Newgrounds and the lyrics of them.

Finally, I'm thinking about try to ask for help to Newground Flash programmers to include more mini-games to provide more variety to the game. What do you think about asking for this help? From my experience it's extremely difficult to get people involved, but it's also rewarding when you are able to finish something like this in team. Also it will help the game to be a little bit different from the game "Poetry". I don't know, maybe a new programmer can code a mini-game of zombies carrying the words, or a knight slashing Orcs with the words, or a car running over pedestrians with the words, these kind of games seems to be more successful... What do you think? Could it be a good idea or could it be a total disaster?

It is difficult getting people involved, but the more you do manage to involve, the easier it is to get others involved, so absolutely, yes, do ask other flash artist to contribute. The worst they can do is decline, but you never know if you don't ask. I don't think it would be a disaster at all.

I like the additional mini-game ideas; I'm partial to zombie games myself. And I like that you can easily add to the game. It's a great idea. : )

Ok, then I'll prepare some material for instructions for the new programmers, and I suppose that before Friday I'll post the Lyrics Collab in the Flash Forum. I'll send you a PM when I do it.

Thanks.
